US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan will not run for re-election this year, US media report.
Congress most powerful lawmaker has told friends he will not stand for another term in his Wisconsin district this autumn, reports Axios.
His exit would be a blow to the Republican party ahead of Novembers mid-term elections. [

According to Axios, Mr Ryan has found his job frustrating, partly because of President Donald Trump.

This recent omnibus bill was just icing on the cakeYeah, it was the icing. But now the cake is decorated because President Trump fell for the chemical attack (if there even was a chemical attack) being done by Assad.

Ryan has to be bought off or have some scandal that's being kept hidden. Hey lighten up, he just said he wanted to spend more time with his family. </s>

I'm tempted to withhold my glee until we find out who will replace him. We were all thrilled when Boehner resigned weren't we?

So he found his work frustrating because of Trump? So he rather works with the Dems against the interests of the people like he did for the Obama years???

Being objective, I understand his frustrations. He got tax reform done which was his life-long goal. He recognized entitlement reform as the most urgent need, although it's virtually impossible with these congresscritters of late.
My main complaint was his coziness with the Chamber of Congress who want cheap foreign labor. He hasn't embraced DjT in many respects, so I'll be glad to see him go. We need new leadership with some Freedom Caucus influence. I don't know if McCarthy or Scalise would be better or worse....both are probably too tied to establishment.

President Trump praised House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday after the Wisconsin lawmaker told House Republicans he will not seek re-election, saying Ryan will leave behind an unquestionable “legacy of achievement.
Speaker Paul Ryan is a truly good man, and while he will not be seeking re-election, he will leave a legacy of achievement that nobody can question. We are with you Paul! Trump tweeted Wednesday.
