US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan will not run for re-election this year, US media report.
Congress most powerful lawmaker has told friends he will not stand for another term in his Wisconsin district this autumn, reports Axios.
His exit would be a blow to the Republican party ahead of Novembers mid-term elections. [

According to Axios, Mr Ryan has found his job frustrating, partly because of President Donald Trump.

No conspiracy at all here. He's just been completely ineffective as House Speaker -- that's all. And the price the GOP will pay for it is that he'd be the House minority leader in 2019 anyway.
When we got to the end of 2017 and the Republicans hadn't done anything to fix ObamaCare despite promising to repeal it for more than seven years, the party's credibility was destroyed and its leadership exposed as political frauds.
This recent omnibus spending bill was just icing on the cake.

Mr Ryan has found his job frustrating, partly because of President Donald Trump. Pushing the democrats agenda and Omnibus Spending Bill through a republican congress is hard work.
Especially when you have a president who is not a member of The Swamp and has crazy ideas about keeping campaign promises, honoring his oath of office and governing in accordance with the Constitution.

That is entirely from your perspective. From Ryan’s perspective, he has been highly effective in pursuing his policies. His policies just happened to align with democrats, that’s all.

The Bush League Republicans, maybe, but not for the vast majority of GOP voters, who do not want the USA turned into North Mexico.

I think we know how ineffective ryan is/was. It is easy to picture a “real leader” there if we even have one in the entire House of Reps?

Speaker Paul Ryan is a truly good man, and while he will not be seeking re-election, he will leave a legacy of achievement that nobody can question. We are with you Paul!
