Existing law prohibits a person, among others, from making or disseminating in any advertising device, or in any manner or means whatever, including over the Internet, any statement concerning real or personal property or services that is untrue or misleading, as specified.
This bill would require any person who operates a social media, as defined, Internet Web site with a physical presence in California to develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Web site. The bill would require the plan to include, among other things, a plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories, the utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories, providing outreach to social media users, and placing a warning on a news story containing false information.

I think we meet the fact checker requirement just by our nature. If someone posts something that is off, wrong, unlikely, within a half dozen posts, somebody will point that out. I’ve seen the mods pull a thread that has fake news more than once.
Which government bureaucrat is going to decide whether the site’s fact checker is really fact checking.
Don’t be fooled. This is a direct attack on conservative websites. This is designed to shut them all down.

“among others” may mean it only applies to children and midgets within a group of normal sized adults.
I.e., The shorties are “among” the others in the group.

I agree with you that our FR fact checkers are the greatest, BUT this is legislation by the leftists on Kalifornia. They will be the ones determining what facts to choose as correct based on the leftist agenda. It will be no good thing for any conservative website.
I think that FR could easily be caught up in this dragnet.
