It’s going to be very cold this weekend in the Northeast. That doesn’t mean the climate isn’t changing.
A record-cold “Arctic Blast” is set to hit the East Coast this weekend.
And undoubtedly, some people will point to it and say that it proves global warming isn’t for real.
That’s totally false: categorically, definitely, unequivocally, scientifically false. And yet it’s made over and over and over again by climate denialists and their paid-for politicians in Washington.
Here, then, is the definitive list of four reasons that cold winters do not disprove global warming.
1. Climate Is Personality, Weather Is a Mood.
The most important thing to remember, when it comes to climate change, is that it is never possible to trace any single weather event—hurricane, cold snap, dry spell—to climate change. As University of Georgia geography professor John Knox puts it, climate is personality; weather is mood.
2. There Is No ‘Global Warming.’ There’s Global Climate Disruption.
The Earth’s climatic system is extremely complicated. And so while the core feedback loop of climate change is simple—more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere traps more heat, like glass traps heat in a greenhouse—its effects are anything but. Some parts of the world get hotter, others get colder. And some are thrown into chaos.
3. Yes, in Fact, Climate Change Sometimes Makes Winter Worse.
In some cases, the changes caused by anthropogenic alterations to the atmosphere will cause more wintry effects.
4. The Northeastern United States Is Not the World.
Perhaps this is obvious, but a small swath of land from Maine to Georgia is not representative of the entire Earth’s surface. And as it happens, the warming effects of global climate disruption have not been as keenly felt there as elsewhere.

And by next year the weather service and NASA will have doctored the numbers enough to say this was warmest month on record, people’s short memory will have forgotten reality.
They forgot #5 - The dogmatic adherence to the religion of “Anthroprogenic Climate Change” dictates the “Climate Change” causes literally everything and there fore can not be disproved.
Liberals get to burn carbon. The rest of us must do without its life-affirming benefits so our liberal gentry can feel good about themselves.
Climate Change as a scam is simply a cover to make sure technology only benefits the elite.
If it gets colder, it must be global warming.
Exactly...with the solar minimum approaching, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next few years we hear this same crap over and over.
If it cannot be empirically tested; its not science, its faith.
Faith that man is destructive to the planet’s fate.

The whole race of Man upon the face of the earth and all we do accounts for .0034% of atmospheric change. The entire race of Man is less than a grain of sand on a mile-wide beach. A small swath of land is not indicative of the entire Earth's climate just as the effects of Man is not indicative of any significant effects upon the entire atmosphere. We're not important at all on a planetary scale.

They are trying to sound anthropogenic and sophisticated but they are just apes. There is a meme bandied about changes in the jet stream. But the facts point to a less wavy jet, the opposite of the meme. The simple fact is that manmade warming,which is a minor effect of manmade CO2, cannot cause more "wintry effects".

Someone tell these people they exhale dangerous amounts of CO2 so step up to the cause.
And yet the media and the glo-bull warmers insist, after every bad storm or hurricane, that it was a result of global warming/climate change/Gaia getting a fever/Gaia wearing her girdle too tight ...

Everyone knows that Global Cooling is proof of Global Warming. It’s settled science.
We are supposed to ignore this whole snowy winter but when a single storm like Sandy hit the east coast we were told it was proof of global warming
Reality never interferes with liberal fantasy.
Here in Tulsa, we will be in the 20's and get global warming snow & freezing rain Saturday. But not 9 inches.
I've often pointed out that the rise from 280 ppm of CO2 to 400 ppm of CO2 is almost completely manmade. There is a natural component to the rise from natural warming from the end of the Little Ice Age and high solar in the 20th century. But that would account for about 5ppm or so of that rise.
The real question is whether it matters. It is clear from history that warming, if any, is good. Civilization blossomed 5000 years ago with much warmer temperatures. Any CO2 we add now helps with that and helps deal with CO2 starvation which was one of the greatest planetary threats to life on the planet.
