EPA Associate Administrator Samantha Dravis resigns

Samantha Dravis, the Environmental Protection Agency senior counsel and associate administrator in the Office of Policy, has resigned, CBS News' Jacqueline Alemany confirmed Thursday.

Davis told CBS News in a statement, "It has been an honor to serve in this role at EPA, and I am enormously grateful for the opportunity. I wish Administrator Pruitt and all of the public servants at EPA the very best."

A source familiar with Dravis' resignation said that she has been looking to exit the administration for some time to pursue opportunities in the private sector. She submitted her resignation letter last week, days before the stories broke about Pruitt's $50 per night rental of a condo owned by the wife of a lobbyist or the large raises for two top aides.

Two sources told CBS News' Arden Farhi that Dravis had no involvement in those scandals, which were largely handled by Pruitt's chief of staff.

I wasn't aware the private sector had any need for control freak red tapers.

I don’t know much about her, but I hope Pruitt stays.
If he overspent, let him pay it back and move on.
Stop throwing our best warriors over the side just to please the haters. Same thing with DeVos. Leave her alone and give her time to push through the opposition.

The largest companies LOVE getting in bed with government, particularly when it comes to rule-writing. its the best way to keep competition down.

I was thinking she'll go right to K-Street and join a law firm lobbying the EPA. Its the path every other DC bureaucrat I know has taken.

No, she came in with Pruitt. She is not an Obama holdover. She was at the 2016 CPAC as a panelist on Energy Self-Sufficiency.

I was unaware that rent payments that were cleared by the EPA inhouse Ethics Officer constituted a “scandal”. But then again, I’m not a friend of Tony Rezko, Rev. Wright, or William Ayers who are all squeaky clean and of course, presented no “scandals” for Obama.

Yes, according to the leftist media outlets at any rate, but she didn’t use that word, scandal. In fact she submitted her resignation before these so called scandals were even mentioned in the press.

Are you kidding? For many companies, having a free pass through inside influence is absolutely essential to their business model. She’ll be able to demand seven figures annually, easy.

There’s more than one fedgov agency that is a revolving door to a large private corps. They swap employees on a regular basis.
