As the state promises gun rights activists they’re not coming for their guns, behind the scenes they’re pleading for it to happen. And now the feared gun grab is occurring. Residents in Deerfield, Illinois have 60 days to surrender their “assault weapons” or face fines of $1000 per day per gun.
The gun ban ordinance was passed on April 2nd with residents left with few choices of how to dispose of their valuable “assault weapons.” Upon careful reading of the ordinance, residents will be left with revolvers, .22 caliber “plinking” rifles, and double barrel shotguns to defend their homes and families from criminals who could care less about the law.
Fines for not disposing of the weapons range from $250 to $1000 per day per gun for those who choose not to comply with the city’s ordinance. While a fine may seem reasonable to some, as TFTP has reported on multiple occasions, failure to pay fines always results in police action. It is not far-fetched to predict major turmoil and arrests in the event of non-compliance.
One example of the so-called “assault weapon” is the Ruger 10/22 which can accept magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Even though the 10/22 is not listed in the list of guns the village wants to see banned, the gun cannot legally be possessed in the village.
Residents have been instructed to either sell their guns, transfer the ownership to someone who lives outside the village, surrender their guns to Deerfield’s sheriff, or begin paying the fines.

That is confiscation.
What they have done is declare innocent people to be criminals. The people did nothing wrong. They were not considered criminals before the law. The law was passed, and although they had done nothing, they were designated as criminals.
Ex post facto laws are INVALID!
Of course, the intention of the law was to deliberately leave guns in the hands of violent criminals, so they will be able to waltz right in and take what is “rightfully” theirs from their “oppressors.”

Heck, the NRA may take it on.
Theoretically, it should be a “no-brainer” with a court hearing that lasts no longer than 15 minutes.

I had not heard of them before, so I just checked out the MSLF website. They are involved in some interesting, and important, legal battles. I may have to find a way to pry a few bucks out of my wallet and support them financially.

Any Christian who refuses to act on his Natural God-given duty to provide for his own (which, by definition MUST include SAFETY and SECURITY) has, by his actions, denied the faith.
The Second Amendment is clear: “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms” is “necessary to the security of a free state.” Therefore, the great purpose of the Founding Fathers for placing the Second Amendment in our Constitution was not to protect the right of people to go hunting or target shooting—or even to simply defend themselves against a common criminal.
The great purpose of the private ownership of firearms is to protect the people against tyrannical assaults against their liberties by GOVERNMENT. Such a defense requires the most effective tool (firearm) available. And, today, that tool is an AR-15-style rifle. No other firearm meets that historic (and sacred) qualification.
Is THAT why the control freaks on the left want to take them from us?
You know what instantly strikes me?
These same municipalities, school districts, counties, etc. instantly run away screaming anytime some atheist even breaths a threat of a lawsuit over some monument with a cross, the 10 commandments, prayer, or anything to do with Christianity.
Then these same units of government pass ordinances clearly in violation of the Constitution, will easily be sued — and lose — and yet suddenly they are as bold and brave as Goliath. Yet let some pipsqueak atheist threaten a lawsuit over praying or an invocation and these “brave” elected officials instantly cave in and run screaming for cover saying, “We don’t want to be sued”.
Ever notice this curiosity?

About 18-19,000. However, it is a liberal “North Shore” suburb of Chicago in the midst of a bunch of other similar upscale Chicago suburbs. Very urban and very Jewish...as pointed out on the Joe Walsh talk show last night (Joe is married to a Jewish woman). Apparently they are Jews who forgot the holocaust. Ironically, some of the more vociferous opponents have been Jews. But not enough.
