President Trump has instructed military leaders to prepare to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, but has not set a date for them to do so, according to a senior administration official.
In a meeting with top national security officials Tuesday, Trump stressed that U.S. troops can be involved in current training tasks for local forces to ensure security in areas liberated from the Islamic State, the official said.

Trump’s approval ratings have gone only up since he has restated this again openly. No coincidence. The strongly anti-interventionist part of the base is now fully back on the Trump Train.
Trump needs to finish off ISIS and then arm and fund the Kurds and let the regional goons know we can hit you at will from the air and if need be troops can be sent in again to kill your terrorist we don’t have to have a permanent presence. If you wait until perfect conditions you will be there forever, just like in Afghanistan. There has been no coherent strategy there ever from Bush, Obumbler or Trump, just more of the same nation building crap.
Leave a couple of bases in country and from time to time if terror activity picks up or seems to be forming, kill them. Tell the Afghans, you are on your own if you want a country but continuing to sink blood and treasure into a country that hasn’t changed any since 2001 is crazy.
What were we there for again?
Plenty of terrorists being killed by the Russians and Syrian army already.
Was it because the Saudi’s paid off US politicians because they want to run a oil and gas pipeline thru Syria?
