Breitbart News Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer appeared on Breitbart News Daily with Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow to discuss his #1 selling book Secret Empires and the influence of large tech companies such as Google. Peter Schweizer appeared alongside Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on Breitbart News Daily recently to discuss his new book Secret Empires and the vast reach that Silicon Valley tech giants such as Google and Facebook possess. Discussing the influence that these companies have, Alex Marlow asked Schweizer What are we supposed to do about it? Peter, Im an editor and commentator but Im not gonna be the person thats gonna lead the charge activism wise, what do people do beyond just generic raising awareness and reporting the facts like you and I do, have there been any solutions government or otherwise which have been proposed to deal with these Masters of the Universe?
Schweizer replied: Yeah, thats a great question, there are a couple of them and Im at the point right now where Im not quite sure what the best policy path forward is. I know some that I dont think are the solution, one is, some people, particularly on the political left, have said Google is so powerful we need to declare that its a public utility, and it needs to be run like a public utility and the problem I have with that Alex is that anyone who has dealt with a public utility knows how ineffective, unresponsive, the inability to progress int erms of technology, just knows that the quality of the services you recieve are going to decline, thats just the nature of what you get declaring a public utility.

I quit using google when I couldn’t find anything but liberal sources when I searched for something.
I tried Duck Duck Go but found it quirky. Bing is my default but they are really liberal as well. Who do you use?
Absolutely no doubt. They suppress the truth about certain subjects, and promote lies:
bammy, jihad, *slam, hillary, Trump, global warming, dickchopping, gay, LGBT horse$hit, terror, etc.
no kidding, how many years have we known that and the media was complicit.
Interesting how things and people just disappear.
Search for Mark Steyn and it doesn’t come up until the last letter. you wont know that if you leave search features on that look at your history.
Milo Y? Gone, completely. He still has a web page but he is gone unless you search specifically for him.
I use startpage which uses google anonymously but I still am trapped by the Google algorithms. Sometimes I use ddg or dogpile, to see if I can expand results. not great.

In before the “they’re a private company, not a quasi-governmental monopoly” apologists show up.
not on my "google". I typed in Milo and he was the 4th milo on the prompt. behind milo and otis, milo manheim and milo vitimiglia...
Yep bur you searched specifically.
He is not coming up peripherally. Which is how you get new readers.
I ordered the book yesterday.
I use Startpage(it’s private) but it’s enhanced by Google so have to go to Bing to double check sometimes
So did I - years ago. But Gargoyle didn’t quit you. It’s reach is so ubiquitous that it even affects the results f other search engines.
It’s ability to collect personal datapoints on non-users is cautionary and borderline terrifying. No one should possess and harness such intense power.
But should (and can) be done about it?
p
I sometimes think Google is The Beast.
Try the IXquick search engine. It is anonymous like Duck Duck Go, uses all the other search engines and works well for me. I learned about it on FR years ago and it has been my "go to" ever since.
Remember, you are going to get more liberal articles on any search engine because the vast majority of articles are written by liberals.
Well, yeah. Any search engine that didn't edit results would be worthless.
Content should NEVER be edited. Results are adjusted by any myriad ways, but should not, other than by pure interest (hits).
I think they were talking about editing which resluts showed up - not the content.
Ranking by hits only would be worthless. Much too easy to game.
