The VT House Judiciary committee is still putting in Amendments. A signficant crowd of 2A supporters showed up to the gallery and they're now scrambling to delay debate on the bill until 2pm hoping that the peanut gallery will disperse.

One house member is proposed to amend the bill to exempt 15 round handgun magazines from the 10 round limit. Also, Rep Brennan is pushing two amendments. One would delay implementation of the magazine ban until 2019, the other would make suppressors legal for hunting. Both of these are expected to fail.

Democrat and Republicans reps met with some constituents and are stating that support for the bill comes almost exclusively from reps that are not native Vermonters, and that massive lobbying and money are pouring in from out of state.

Republican Governor Phil Scott is not even acknowledging the existence of the magazine ban in correspondence with constituents. It's a turd, and he knows it, and he's trying to hide from it.

Once the House Judiciary gets done with it, it has to go back to at least a committee in the Senate, because the Senate bill passed without a magazine capacity ban and the bump stock ban that's in the House version.

Republican Governor Phil Scott has done a 180 on his pro-second amendment campaign promises and publicly states he will sign whatever gun control they put on his desk. While he is trying to hide over the magazine capacity ban, it's clear he will not veto it.

Vermonters, tell your elected officials you reject all unconstitutional gun control. Out of staters, Vermont's economy is dependent upon tourism and they are having a population difficulty right now where they can't get people to stay in the state. Tell them you will never travel in Vermont on any vacation, conduct any business there, and/or you will no longer consider Vermont as a place you were consider moving to.

Hit them in wallet.

Why would anybody want to live there? In Vermont, winter lasts from Halloween to Easter. This is followed by Mud Season, which is, in turn, followed by Black Fly Season. Eventually, you get a couple three months of decent weather.

Well, nevermind then. I guess don’t worry about emailing any of the state officials in question to try to help your fellow Americans while their God-given rights are under assault by fascists :|

***UPDATE***

Vermont speaker of the house’s phone line is being answered. Call 802-828-2245 and demand a no vote on S.55.

This is what happens to every conservative state after the New York liberals flee their soiled nest, and take over yours. LOL, Bernie Sanders is a Vermonter? Well I guess if you consider 0bama American, anything is possible.

Hard to believe that Vermont was the state that produced Calvin Coolidge, one of the better presidents of the 20th Century.

Why would anybody want to live there? Whatever drawbacks there might be to living in Vermont are more than outweighed by the easy access to the finest selection of Birkenstocks that you'll find anywhere outside Sweden.

I wonder how much fed money the state gets for security at schools, public facilities, sporting events, etc. Is that all from state funds?

Vermont speaker of the house’s phone line is being answered.

The problem with that is that they probably have caller ID and will ignore any call that's not from area code 802 (the state's only area code).

True story: I arrived at College two weeks before classes started one year—so it was the third week of August in the middle of Vermont.

The weather guy for WDEV came on and said that weather called for continuing cooling through March...followed by a period of rain.

He wasn’t too far off.

There was snow on the ground for Columbus day, and snow in the air in mid May after finals.

In between it was a mix of glacial cold, snow squalls, and mud.

During the week of Summer there were a lot of mosquitoes.

Exactly. BTW, asking for a friend-- is the Beta FR state-board for Vermont being used to pull people together, develop tasks and cross-coordinate with other organizations?

I see the potential, but I don't see movement in marshalling FRs in each state.

I have the bugs under control, I’ve also seen snow squalls every month of the year. When it’s nice here it’s unparalleled. That said the politics suck I’ve seen this state go from Yankee conservative to pinko commie by the influx of New Yawk citiots and Cambridge Massholes and it sucks. The only way I hang in here is because I’m bunkered in. No one can see me were i live and I can’t see them unless I choose. Beyond that I don’t know.

My parents lived in the Northeast Kingdom. The commies up there were actually on a commune. The rest of the folks were pretty much dirt poor or they were big dairy farmers.

They passed I got to deal with the real estate on a lake. Wow...when they lived there the taxes were $2500 a year. That was very low. The year after, the taxes were about $16k and then $16.5k the next year.

No thanks. Paying more than a $1,000 a month for an old house is not my idea of fun. I sold to a nice guy—but he was rich and I am sure he is pretty liberal.

That property had been in my family since right after the Civil War. But, the tax rules and restrictive building rules are not doing the state any favors.

I was going to suggest something along the same lines.

Vermont seems to be drifting away from her heritage. Very sad. Of course that is part of the larger tragedy that so many Americans today respond to panic rather than reason.

A sad commentary about the state that showed the rest of us what “Constitutional Carry” really meant.
