President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall.
"We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border."
Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.
How about a GO FUND ME for the wall?

They could do the old hiway patrol car trick. Just park old Ice SUV’s and paddy wagons in front of the Western Union outlets in the strip malls. Then, they can drive from strip mall to strip mall in a new and shiny ICE SUV to really drive the illegals back home.
That might keep a few hundred illegals with EBT cards away each day as an added bonus.

Thirty foot bollards were in use before, and are allowed under the language of the Omnibus, which limited designs to those that were operationally effective before a date in 2017.

30 foot bollards make a huge difference where they are installed. It seems like when they do go in (like in Calexico right now), they are accompanied by paved patrol road, and some amount of cameras, lights and alarms. The net effect is that crossings effectively end along that stretch, as long as some limited Border Patrol is still around.

I am plenty sure that IF Congress had allowed Trump & his staff to actually read what was in that bill, Trump would NOT have signed it.
This is/has been a perfect example of the desperate need for the President to have LINE ITEM VETO powers.

The PD in our little Northern California town does this. They’ve replaced all their Crown Vics with newer wheels, and now every bank in town has one of the old clappers parked out front. It’s really bull$hit to think that the potential bank robbers haven’t figured it out. From my perspective, they’ve just taking up parking spaces the rest of us could be using. And I will bet you that the department has two “volunteers” who do all this car shuffling, because they’re always back in the PD parking lot at night.
Go Fund Me would provide funds....
A call for VOLUNTEERS with construction experience would help.
Give them base camps to park their trailers & RV’s & feed them for free in large military mess tents. Bring in trailers for showers & laundry and bring in the wives & girls friends to cook & serve food. Feed them & let them work-—they are volunteers—as many hours as they wish. NO Labor laws would apply-—THEY ARE VOLUNTEERS !!!

Sorry, but I am not sure of your point. Is it that no budget is authorized, or that the restrictions are not binding.

There are a lot of ways to juggle funding to get things done, and I hope that President Trump gets to do quite a lot. The risk is that violating the language of the law could be used as grounds for impeachment. Some of the articles drafted against Nixon concerned budget execution.
Unfortunately, there's quite a few here who don't realize what just really happened. Congress passed a RESOLUTION, not a restricted legislated budget, which handed Trump a book of blank checks and the keys to the treasury. And he's consolidating his discretionary control of it right now.
