AN ANTONIO - Earth Hour is the worlds largest grassroots movement and shines light on the need for climate action.
Every year since its induction, people around the globe commit to turning off the lights for one hour.
Earth hour is Saturday at 8:30 p.m. local time in whatever area of the planet you live in.
This year Earth Hour celebrates 11 years of saving energy and raising awareness on the impact of climate change.
Iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building, Space Needle, Las Vegas strip, Eiffel Tower and Big Ben all go dark for one hour in honor of Earth Hour.
Earth Hour supporters have successfully advocated for more climate-friendly laws and policies, such as those that have banned plastic in the World Heritage site of the Galapagos Islands, according to the website.
There are more ways to raise awareness and participate in Earth Hour than just turning the lights off.

I’ll be installing electric fencing today to keep get out of our prized vegetation. It’ll be a 2-fer...
I get to burn electricity AND zap the k-rap out of mother nature at the same time.
You are not doing your part. I am taking all my LED’s out and putting heat lamps in and turning them on at 8:30.

Darn SpellChek.
LOL !
Sounds like my little red Dakota - runs tres rapid but drinks like a fish !
Post of the day.
The grandkids are here this weekend , SO, you should be able to spot the electric lights of my house as well as the s’mores bonfire in the back yard from the International Space Station tonight.
I’m firing up my electric arc furnace.
I'd like to unplug them.
Light ‘em up, Johnny....
I thought the freaks had already declared some day in April as “Turn Off Your Lights For Gaia Earf Day”.
Wow, this thing is really losing popularity. Usually I hear about it weeks in advance from my hippy friends. The day after is the first I heard of this one.
Isn’t Earf Day the day you are supposed to remove the batteries from your smoke detectors?
How many of these idiots drive electric cars? They should drive them over a cliff with 12 of their buddies in the car. that would REALLY help save the world.
I’d be impressed if these wacked out freaks turned off their cell phones and unplugged all electrical chargers ALL DAY on Saturday. Turning off all of your lights during Daylight Savings Time to “save da planet” is something morons do. Mine are already off until it gets dark.
It would be a lot more fun-for us- if they had a “don’t change your underwear for a week to save water” and combine with a “quit using toilet paper to save a tree” week.
It’s my annual turn on every light on the property celebration. I am so thankful to be living in the middle of a high desert valley with all the modern comforts as electricity, clean water and indoor plumbing.
