Lieu to Trump on spending bill: You got rolled
The Hill ^ | 03/23/18 | JOHN BOWDEN

Posted on 03/23/2018 10:21:47 PM PDT by aquila48

Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu (Calif.) taunted President Trump on Twitter Friday evening after the president signed a massive $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill. Trump threatened to veto the bill before ultimately signing it, decrying the bill's lack of funding for his border wall proposal.

Lieu mocked Trump on Friday after the bill's signing, saying that Trump was "rolled" by Republican leaders in Congress who failed to secure a deal with Democrats over border wall funding or a legislative fix for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients.

"Dear @realDonaldTrump: You wimped out. You failed to deliver on your veto threat. Now we in Congress will believe you even less," Lieu tweeted.

"The Republican controlled Congress just rolled you. And they will roll you again. Because when the moment of truth came, you showed great weakness," the California lawmaker added.

The Libs on dancing on the DACA “children”?

Time to confront every Congressman, in person, who voted yes

That is how I and others understand it to be. Some others see it differently, however.

That’s why obama never passed a budget in 8 years(!) He just used the Omnibus.

Build a beautiful 30 foot tall “fence”.

After September, Mexico will gladly pour the concrete to finish the wall, and maybe erect some solar panels.

If the marxists impeach President Trump, they then get President Pence.

Hollyweird, planned “parenthood”, LGBTASDFGHJKL, the teachers, the global warming nutters, will never sign onto that deal

Nothing in their that says the army cannot build a fort.

A fort with 30 foot tall walls, 20 feet deep, and hundreds of miles wide.

What actually happened anyway?

The President had the eyes of the world on him, just the kind of situation he loves.

A new day in America was at hand.

Military spending? Order Ryan, McConnell, Schumer and Pelosi back to work on Monday to get it done.

Nothing else happens until they do.

The press appearance was stunning, in the worst possible way.

Whether it’s an omnibus bill or not, it doesn’t give him money for a wall. And it prohibits use of his wall prototypes.

If the existing prototypes are off limits, simply build a modified version of the prototypes. Also, I believe he's allowed to using military spending for the wall.

Best suggestion yet. Thank you. It seems as if they want impeachment to happen.

Here’s the reality. The establishment republicans will never allow a big beautiful wall. Its not happening folks. I want it, you want it we all want it but fencing done right is cheaper and faster.

Even better since the crimulous bill is a suggestion on spending and not a budget Trump could easily dip into some of those DOD funds and instruct the corps of engineers to start throwing up a two fence system on pertinent sections of the border. With the corps of engineers doing the job its now a military project totally within the purview of the President. He can bypass Congress and give Ryan and McConnell the finger.

If you don't support this President, you don't belong on FR.

Sargon please....that’s utterly ridiculous....and precisely the refrain here in 2005-2008 about George Bush as his support here collapsed....which I hope doesn’t happen to Trump or more precisely Trump doesn’t cause that to happen

We don’t have to blindly support his every move...the reaction here to this is pretty much universal at conservative websites I’ve viewed.....first time I’ve seen Teump get hammered with dissatisfaction from his base.....his base is all he has....well to remember that

Impeachment happens in congress. If they take the House and Senate he will be impeached by the Democrats and some Republicans and the News Media will go along with them.. Lie and Lie and lie some more about him..

This was an omnibus............not a budget. President Trump can choose what is spent on what.

Can you document your claim about omnibus bills?

I believe Congress has to approve any cross-agency transfers.

Dude, you're a #NeverTrumper from way back, so, with all due respect, step off. The only portion of President Trump's base that he's truly alienating is your ilk—the #NeverTrump crowd who withdraw their support at the drop of a hat.

Any "supporter" of President Trump that would abandon him for signing a 6-month spending bill—in the midst of a Deep State coup attempt—is no supporter at all—and never was.

This is the same thing that occurs every time the faithless #NeverTrump crowd comes across a convenient excuse to abandon ship. This was just another opportunity for such self-indulgent ignorance.

There's a coup on, for God's sake! 6-month spending bills pale into insignificance when viewed in that context. Furthermore, the President got his military priorities fully funded—and the US military might very well be needed to negate this coup attempt, methinks.

The GOP will retain the house this November—despite the best efforts of the GOPe and #NeverTrumpers to undermine him.

Anyone who fails to see the big picture here is #NeverTrump incarnate. And I recall you specifically from the 2016 election cycle, #NeverTrumper, so your "analysis" is disingenuous, to say the least.

I daresay that FR doesn't need armchair quarterbacks and second-guessers undermining morale and aiding and abetting the Enemy. But that's for JimRob to decide. Anyone who no longer wants to support the President due to his signing of this bill is simply not keeping things in their proper perspective.

We are at war, and one 6-month spending bill doesn't warrant the abandonment of our Commander in Chief. The President has access to much more information than any of us do, and has shown superb judgement more often than not—he deserves the benefit of the doubt in this case, even if you disagree with him.

To reiterate: we're in the midst of a Deep State coup attempt, for God's sake; the President made a reluctant decision to avoid either a government shutdown or being severely weakened by having his veto overridden. He was visibly angry, and said that he would never again sign such a bill. So he chose the lesser of two evils, and I still trust his political judgement and instincts over the resident Trump-bashing belly-achers—because he has earned that trust a dozen times over during the course of the last two years.

Nobody expects Deplorables to be happy about this bloated piece of crap bill, but abandoning this President for signing a 6-month spending bill—in the middle of a God d-mn coup attempt—is the height of hysterical fear-mongering.

#NeverTrump is as #NeverTrump does...

If you don't support this President, you don't belong on FR.

No it's not ridiculous, and it has been JimRob's own personal sentiment at times.

Nobody is saying we have to "blindly support" the President's "every move". But they do need to support the President overall, and there are many here who have said that they won't do that anymore.

Such n00b #NeverTrumpers can go to Hell.

There are plenty of sites where the #NeverTrump crowd can indulge in their circle jerks of doubt.

There's a coup on, for God's sake! Undermining morale by utterly forsaking this man because of this disagreement, and failing to keep things in perspective, is toxic to morale.

Crushing this coup is a thousand times more important than whether the President signed this bill or not. Period.

#NeverTrumpers aren't welcome on FR—those are JimRob's words, not mine. And if you've formally abandoned President Trump because he signed this bill, you're now a #NeverTrumper.

Anyone who withdraws their support for this President on the basis of this 6-month spending bill is a de facto #NeverTrumper—plain and simple.

I'm not talking about people who disagree with the President signing this bill. Heck, I disagree with it. Most Deplorables do.

I'm talking about those weak-minded souls who are abandoning the President—thereby making the perfect the enemy of the good. Such ilk are #NeverTrumpers and don't belong in a community that overtly supports this President. Does that clarify things? I'm not talking about censoring dissent. I'm talking about those who have now formally declared their #NeverTrump status.

To reiterate—disagreeing and moaning and groaning about this incident is fine. Withdrawing support for President Trump in the midst of a coup attempt? Such newly minted #NeverTrumpers can go to Hell...

The majority of the old border fence was built by the Army Corps of Engineers. There are hints that the plan all along has been to run the new one through the Corps and the increased DOD funding in this budget is what will pay for it. They will supervise the private contractors who will construct some or all of it, and being an Army project there is less opportunity for EPA types to interfere. We shall see...

I agree mostly but Trump has to know his base disapproval

I agree about the coup which is why I feel he should govern for his base and by his base

Not for pragmatism

Nothing he can do besides increase his base will bring his enemies in both parties to heel

Of course this mistake shouldn’t make anyone with sense a nevertrumpist

We’re a long ways from that

Pence is a good backup though considering Trump age

Though longevity runs in his dna

So why is the IG report dragging out

Well we are being invaded so it would make sense. That’s usually what countries do when they are being invaded, they build forts near the borders. Hmmmmm....
Maybe daydreaming. Would be nice if that was plan all along.

Naaaaa, Impeachment not gonna happen. Every time you ask a Liberal what the so called impeachment charges will be.... crickets.

The charge will be, Donald Trump failed to trample a duck to death at the Ely, Minnasota annual Wheat and Corn festival.

And it will stick.
