The 2,232 page Omnibus bill includes a specific clause barring funding for a wall on the southern border that mirrors the new prototypes already there. The bill reads:
The amounts designated in subsection (a)(2) through (a)(4) shall only be available for operationally effective designs deployed as of the date of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017, (Public Law 115–31), such as currently deployed steel bollard designs, that prioritize agent safety.

I hate it. I hate them. BUT...looking at it from a distance...I admire the political nature of it. You have to give them credit, they knew exactly what they were doing. They executed the plan PERFECTLY. Not enough time to let the details out (so much for three days)...not enough time to react. They had enough votes on both sides to let BOTH wings run for shelter... "conservatives" could vote no...and liberals could vote no so the "vulnerable members" are all safe in the mid-terms.
It was timed with the tariffs...which they knew would tank the market...they knew it would be a perfect bipartisan vote....and there isn't a darn thing he could do about it.
I only wish the true conservatives knew how to play politics that well. It was a masterpiece of swampislature.

The swamp has him by the short-hairs and he knows it. He could veto it and it would be a Trump shutdown and it would remain a Trump shutdown until he signs THIS piece of legislation...because it is "bipartisan." Both "leaders" would be on ABCNBCCBSCNNMSNBCFOX saying "Look, both sides came together like the people expect us to, like the constitution requires us to do, and we came up with a budget. Both sides got something and gave something."
And for every day the government was shut down, that is the mantra...and that is PROBABLY what the swamp was hoping for. I kinda think the very last thing the swamp wanted was for him to sign it (even though they knew he would). They knew this was "an offer he couldn't refuse."
He doesn't have the political capital for that and he knows it...and you and I know it too. His poll numbers would be in the teens within a couple of weeks...and the economy would suffer...and that is his one bright spot the liberal media can't hide from folks right now.

No, it will prove that he is a president with very little political support amongst the Washington establishment. If he vetoes the bill, the government shuts down on his veto. And then all Hell breaks loose and within a relatively short period of time Trump’s public support craters around the country and he gives in and signs it anyway...likely ending his presidency at that moment.
What this proves is that you cannot elect an outsider president unless that outsider has the support of the establishment in Congress and the bureaucracy in Washington D.C. and expect that president to be able to implement budgetary policy. It why they are called “the establishment”...they run things not the outsider president. They are just going to wait him out and wait for him to make the mistake that will allow them to take him out. This would be that. You have to play it out. It’s a shit sandwich and we’ve got to eat it until (of if) we can get Trump some support in Congress and clean out the bureaucracy. The dude is Spartacus fighting Rome.
