On Wednesday, a federal judge will hold a climate science tutorial as part of San Franciscos and Oaklands nuisance cases against five oil giants for damages related to sea level rise.

No I guess Ann is not worried.
Ann E. Carlson PROF-AY-LAW University of California, 2016 $490,982.00
I guess is I was making close to half a million a year I wouldn't be worried either.
It will be interesting to see what evidence is allowed in
In a California court I figure tjis won’t go well
The beaches look the same to me as they did 30 years ago.
Hope in one hand, Crap in the other, see which one fills up first.
Stick it to the man, and then complain that gas is getting too expensive. Its the San Francisco way.
Broke CA has to follow the NY model and try to shake down the companies doing business there. Were I an oil or gas company, I’d shut off the pipelines to CA and be done with it.
If you can sue oil companies for selling you what you want can you sue food companies for making you fat?
What about cows farting all over the place.
Shouldn’t they be put to death and made in to delicious burgers?
Yes, I hope someone has pictures of Stinson beach from 50 years ago, showing nothing has changed.
They should also allow in the financial disclosure notices on bond offerings for these cities. From what I’ve read, the climate risks are minimized in the bond disclosures but maximized in the lawsuits. Sorry, cities, you can’t have it both ways.
Garbage lawsuit.
The last thing I want is California communities leading the way anywhere. They only thing they appear to be good at is making things more expensive and driving sane people to move out of state.
And to whatever degree they do look different it is due to a combination of sand mining for incorporation into concrete, and a reduction in sand repopulating beaches due to more dams and other river management projects that keep new silt away from beaches.
Im pretty sure a judge and a lawyer(s) knows more about the petroleum industry than petroleum industry engineers. /S
The only evidence of sea level rise is where the land itself has sunk. If the sea rises, it will rise everywhere. It hasn’t.
The oil companies should withdraw their products from the California market until California says the their climate has recovered.
It is a good compromise and it will only take about a month, by my estimate.
Horsecrap. Just another money grab.
PS: Someone should argue separation of Church & State. These environmentalists view climate change, or whatever they call it, as a religion!
Let’s sue oxygen for rust
This is so stupid.
All oil companies should cease providing petroleum to CA.
Then step back and watch them squeal.
