No Obamacare Funding, No DACA, Some Border Security in Emerging Budget Deal
Townhall ^ | March 21, 2018 | Guy Benson

Posted on 03/21/2018 9:57:18 AM PDT by EdnaMode

UPDATE - It looks like a deal has been reached, with Democrats sounding pretty darned happy about it. Paul Ryan also seems upbeat. But what, exactly, will this monster of a spending snowball include? Details are just beginning to emerge, but thus far it looks like Obamacare doesn't receive funding, and DACA has not been addressed -- but President Trump got at least some of his border security money:

Philip Klein ✔ @philipaklein Ds and Rs finalizing $1.2 trillion spending deal -- No Obamacare funding or DACA, but has border security money, @susanferrechio reports https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/congress/congressional-leaders-finalizing-12-trillion-spending-deal … 11:08 AM - Mar 21, 2018

Guy Benson ✔ @guypbenson $1.3T spending bill:

No DACA fix, no new Obamacare funding, $1.6 billion for border security/fencing, large ⬆️ in military funding, $250m more for school safety, big $ to fight opioid crisis.

Significant across-the-board increases for nearly every domestic agency & program.

Quote: "Domestic accounts would get a generous 10 percent increase on average as well, awarding Democrats the sort of spending increases they sought but never secured during the Obama administration." Surprise. Meanwhile, 'Fix NICS' (see below) will reportedly stand alone in the legislation, without pro- or anti-gun companion provisions, which is what some Republicans and Democrats wanted (and which President Trump appeared to reject not very long ago). All in all, myriad elements of the bill are positive; others are disappointing. But the overall process remains terrible, and the trajectory of federal spending remains pointed inexorably upward. As I've written before, neither of these political parties is really serious about the national debt or fiscal prudence. That's the harsh reality.

I am concerned about that too. I hope these Republicans are not going to fall into the Democrat trap on gun control. Its a good way for my congressman to lose my vote since he is being primaried.

Exactly. Trump wont budge from full funding.

I read The Art of the Deal in college. You know what the summary was?

I win, you lose. Never compromise. Compromising is losing.

Has Trump ever heard of the new-fangled word “VETO”?

At least you have primaries. In MA, all 13 pieces of Congressional crap run basically unopposed.

Between fiscal year 1977 and fiscal year 2018, Congress only passed all twelve regular appropriations bills on time in four years - fiscal years 1977, 1989, 1995, and 1997.

A dozen or so senior members of the Uniparty meet in secret, come up with politically acceptable compromises and sends to the House and Senate for members to vote up or down. No deliberation. It is likely that neither your congressman nor mine has a say in this fundamental legislative duty.

Just keep voting.

What is this Obamacare you speak of?

“Obamacare is finished,” Trump told reporters before a cabinet meeting. “It’s dead. It’s gone. You shouldn’t even mention it. It’s gone. There is no such thing as Obamacare any more.”
>

Even IF funding were reduced to $0%, the (illegal) program exists in ‘law’. That which have been reduced/removed can just as easily be re-instated at ANY time.

When the (R)N(C) finally gets around to following through w/ its promise(s), Trump and the rest will be correct. As it stands, like a cancer, it is merely in remission.

Look how cheap the RINOs and Dems are on border funding. They found hundreds of billions for TARP, but can only squeeze barely over a billion for the wall.

IF Trump starts a “Go Fund Me’ account for the wall, I wonder how much will be raised in a VERY short amount of time???

Have the Republicans abandoned the wall? Only funding for 33 miles worth of new wall?
No Dreamers for Democrats, no wall for Republicans.

I saw Scalise on FBN last night dancing around, then acknowledging full funding for Planned Parenthood.

The “fix nics” nonsense is a further intrusion into the purchase of a firearm, isn’t that true?

And it was supposed to be tied to national CCW reciprocity.

So once again the bad has been made worse, and the good has been crapped on in the corner.

Good lord we may as well get the rumble started. They are bleeding us to death bill by bill, court case by court case, vote by vote.

Only because the MSM will beat that drum until elections time. Trump offered, and they refused.

He needs to veto this and stress that he is doing so because the Dems have abandoned DACA and refuse to build the wall to protect American citizens.

One of the issues that have arisen with Obamacare is the expanded Medicaid programs. Originally funded 90% by the feds, they are now being cut loose to be funded by the states, and they are going broke. In Illinois and Ohio, maybe others, Medicaid has stopped paying their providers for many authorized services. If nothing changes, soon the growing shortage of doctors willing to take Medicaid patients will explode and collapse the system. Just like the dems planned it. This bill is a lame attempt to forestall the collapse with a costly multibillion dollar bandaid.

"...Just like the dems planned it..."

Yes...absolutely. Bears repeating, I have been saying that for years.

It’s really what the Democrats do. They find enough stupid people to support them and bring in illegals to make up the difference.

All for short-term power and cash.

They don’t care what damage it does to the country nor American citizens in the meantime.
