The Marshall Plan was a huge mistake. It was the foundation for this EU garbage to begin with. One does not rebuild one’s enemies after a war. It was a complete reversal (along with allowing Germany to bring back its military command) of what was declared at the Yalta conference:
It is our inflexible purpose to destroy German militarism and Nazism and to ensure that Germany will never again be able to disturb the peace of the world.

We are determined to disarm and disband all German armed forces; break up for all time the German General Staff that has repeatedly contrived the resurgence of German militarism; remove or destroy all German military equipment; eliminate or control all German industry that could be used for military production; bring all war criminals to justice and swift punishment and exact reparation in kind for the destruction wrought by Germans; wipe out the Nazi party, Nazi laws, organizations and institutions; remove all Nazi and militarist influences from public office and from the cultural and economic life of the German people; and take in harmony such other measures in Germany as may be necessary to the future peace and safety of the world.

It is not our purpose to destroy the people of Germany, but only when Nazism and militarism have been extirpated, will there be hope for decent life for Germans, and a place for them in the comity of nations. …
Nowadays, Germany is third in the world in military arms production, the Bundeswehr is second behind the US armed forces in international deployments, and the politicians in Berlin are so brazen as to think to threaten the USA economically. Looks like the ones that the DC swamp went to rescue were the same people that declared war on us.

The Marshall Plan was a huge mistake.
But it happened and we are still funding them/you...THAT is the mistake.

BTW, pretend to discount it all you want but all of Europe would be speaking German and or Russian if it wasn't for us.

Oh, but it kept us from being hated! NOT!

Marshall Plan? Mistake? Maybe! Maybe not.

One has to put ones self in the shoes of those who lived at the time.

After WW1, Germany and most of Eastern Europe who sided with Germany were left to deal with the devastation of the War and destruction of their economies.

Marshall and others of the time recognized that post-war policy led to Naxiism and Facism in Italy. So the idea was to try and avoid a repeat.

Modern Germany may now be what you say, but they have another problem. That is Islamification.

Islamists invaded due to pride-less people like yourself, whose self-loathing has compromised the sacred duty of gatekeeping the treasures of Western civilization. Leaving a spiritual and moral vacuum.

You have allowed Kremlin-type revisionists to strike at your patriotism and hijack the narrative of the 20th Century in favor of the *Stalinist* banner of victory under which Putin and his ilk serve to this day. All too ready to capitalize on the West's vulnerabilities and sabotage its faith in itself.

Self-loathing is also why America went downhill as well. There is no sense nor reverence regarding what the 20th Century was about!

Was the Marshall Plan perfect? No!

Did it save Europe? Yes. Please stop insulting the memory of people like my grandparents who had to endure both Nazi and Soviet terror.

Post war foreign policy was about containment of the Soviet threat. It wasn’t about Germany. You forget there were hundreds of divisions of the Red Army ready to march across the prostrate Europe. Thanks to Yalta.
