US President Donald Trump will not succeed in dividing European nations against one another over trade, German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier warned on Sunday ahead of a visit to Washington.
In the European Union we are a customs union and act collectively. It cannot be in the interest of the US government to divide Europe, nor will it succeed, Altmaier told German business daily Handelsblatt. [ ]
Companies and consumers on both sides would foot the bill if the US and Europe tumble into a trade war, Altmaier said.
Meanwhile, countries like China that stand accused of flooding global markets with cheap steel would be laughing on the sidelines, he added.

It’s only a trade war when we fight back. It’s only a rape if the victim fights back. Message from Free Traitors lean back and enjoy.
The dividing going on is in the US. The Chamber of Establishment Commerce is flooding the airwaves with commercials meant to support a “free trade”, that does not exist.
And they are activating other industries to isolate the steel and aluminum industry.
You talk a lot like a liberal, with all due respect.
And you also use proof by repeated assertion, which is a logical fallacy. I think your opinion is clear already.
I also notice that you don’t bring God into the equation. Without God’s help on the side of the USA and UK, the national socialists could have done a lot more damage.
And by the way do we still have US troops in Germany?
Yes, and the “Europeans” can’t wait for them to be gone so they can build their EU military apace.
They won’t count on the UN for their protection? /s
The Re-jerkoff Party will always be a minority party of a tiny global special interest. They are not ready for prime time.
What’s to “lose” when the Uniparty always wins?
I’m a liberal because I assert that the US saved Europe’s ass in WWII
Frogoff Putin Boot licker
Lots of folks “warning” the President these days.
The rise if the Reich, part deau...
Yep, the GOP are amateurs compared to the Dems.
The Dems at least believe in their core principles and fight for keeps for their policies.
The GOP have little principle except for “Free Trade”, which is really not FT at all, but the establishment status quo.
I’d take it but without the people. Lots of lovely old buildings, charming mountains, lakes, meadows, beaches and some decent micro climates.
If you lived where it was often 120+ degrees, you might prefer a little airspace "down there" in place of leggings of any kind.

In Florida we call that swamp shorts. And something else. LOL.
Your rational thought and debating skills and terminology is lacking.
In fact, your line of reasoning is a weak straw-man.
You called me a liberal because of a widely accepted historical reality: That the US saved Europe from the Nazis (and also the Soviets)
You demand a source for that? LOL
Frogoff Sonny.
Same tactics as before, out of you.
And more putting words in my mouth: I said you argue like a liberal, not that you were and are a liberal because you believe that the USA (without a mention of God’s help, but of its sole effort) “saved Europe’s bacon”, to use your words. Such a belief does not necessarily make one a liberal, and I’ll be the first to say it.
Oh well; have a nice day.
The Marshall Plan centered on rebuilding Germany though. One thing that was clear from Tetens’ book is that Adenauer’s administration had a hand in stoking tensions between the USA and USSR, with an eye towards another alliance of convenience with the USSR.
I hope there is no implication that not getting rid of the general staff in Germany, and reorganizing the Wehrmacht into the Bundeswehr and so on and so forth, was actually vital in slowing down the Cold War. The only thing that really stopped the Cold War was Reagan’s efforts, FWICS; before that, the Democrats and RINOs were all about “containment” and letting the world get more and more tense.
