US 'will fail if it tries to split Europe': Germany

US President Donald Trump “will not succeed” in dividing European nations against one another over trade, German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier warned on Sunday ahead of a visit to Washington.

In the European Union “we are a customs union and act collectively. It cannot be in the interest of the US government to divide Europe, nor will it succeed,” Altmaier told German business daily Handelsblatt. […]

“Companies and consumers on both sides would foot the bill if the US and Europe tumble into a trade war,” Altmaier said.

Meanwhile, countries like China that stand accused of flooding global markets with cheap steel would be “laughing on the sidelines”, he added. …

Ha! We don’t have to try to split the EU. They’re doing a fine job all by themselves.

The Marshall Plan was a huge mistake. It was the foundation for this EU garbage to begin with. One does not rebuild one’s enemies after a war. It was a complete reversal (along with allowing Germany to bring back its military command) of what was declared at the Yalta conference:
It is our inflexible purpose to destroy German militarism and Nazism and to ensure that Germany will never again be able to disturb the peace of the world.

We are determined to disarm and disband all German armed forces; break up for all time the German General Staff that has repeatedly contrived the resurgence of German militarism; remove or destroy all German military equipment; eliminate or control all German industry that could be used for military production; bring all war criminals to justice and swift punishment and exact reparation in kind for the destruction wrought by Germans; wipe out the Nazi party, Nazi laws, organizations and institutions; remove all Nazi and militarist influences from public office and from the cultural and economic life of the German people; and take in harmony such other measures in Germany as may be necessary to the future peace and safety of the world.

It is not our purpose to destroy the people of Germany, but only when Nazism and militarism have been extirpated, will there be hope for decent life for Germans, and a place for them in the comity of nations. …
Nowadays, Germany is third in the world in military arms production, the Bundeswehr is second behind the US armed forces in international deployments, and the politicians in Berlin are so brazen as to think to threaten the USA economically. Looks like the ones that the DC swamp went to rescue were the same people that declared war on us.

Not quite there yet.

The influx is turning out to be the very “beneficial crisis” that the totalitarians are looking to use to “break taboos” and take more power for themselves, though.

They don’t need the US to split Germany. Germany is doing it fine all by itself.

Sure you can act collectively. All you want. So if Italy or France makes a trade deal with the US your beef is with them, not us. Unless the deal we make with them is then honored by all of the EU...would that be collective enough for you???

The Marshall Plan was a huge mistake.
But it happened and we are still funding them/you...THAT is the mistake.

BTW, pretend to discount it all you want but all of Europe would be speaking German and or Russian if it wasn't for us.

Not to put too silly a face on it, but these arab guys sure like wearing dresses. Pants have been in existence for at least a thousand years. I guess they’re just too modern and corrupt for islam.

Not that FDR cared until Germany declared war on us.

So do you at least agree that the Marshall Plan was a huge mistake? Hindsight is always 20/20, but I kind of favor the Morgenthau Plan.

Amazing, isn’t it.

I haven’t finished reading “Germany Plots with the Kremlin” yet, but what they were up to in Europe was quite treacherous.

Germany could have written this in 1940.

Marshall Plan? Mistake? Maybe! Maybe not.

One has to put ones self in the shoes of those who lived at the time.

After WW1, Germany and most of Eastern Europe who sided with Germany were left to deal with the devastation of the War and destruction of their economies.

Marshall and others of the time recognized that post-war policy led to Naxiism and Facism in Italy. So the idea was to try and avoid a repeat.

Modern Germany may now be what you say, but they have another problem. That is Islamification.
