Seriously, though... something pretty desperate must have been going on in his head.
It was a survivable fall - but the ledge that “redirected” him halfway down plus the way he finally impacted (not visible due to people in the way) must have done him in.
He basically swung himself over a second floor railing of an interior area at a hotel or a shopping mall...
