Uber Chief Brand Officer Bozoma Saint John has called on white men to make noise about diversity in the workplace. CNN reports that Uber chief brand officer Bozoma Saint John has called on white men to encourage diversity in the workplace during a panel at the South by Southwest film festival. I want white men to look around in their office and say, Oh look, theres a lot of white men here. Lets change this,' said Saint John. She claims that its not the responsibility of minorities to encourage diversity: Why do I as the black woman have to fix that? Theres 50 of you, theres one of me. Yall fix it. Everybody else needs to make the noise I want white men to make the noise, said Saint John.
Saint John was hired to Uber in June shortly after the company faced a number of scandals, including criticism for lack of diversity amongst its executives. Ubers former CEO Travis Kalanick resigned from the company in June, the same month that Saint John joined the company. Uber released a diversity report in March 2017 that many felt reflected poorly on the company as it showed that the company had no technical leaders who are black or Hispanic. Across non-technical leadership roles, 3.7 percent of leaders were black, and 1.2 percent were Hispanic.
Saint John criticised Silicon Vallitsor its lack of diversity saying The number of African Americans in Silicon Valley is dismal. Saint John has worked at a number of Silicon Valley companies including Apple Music where she held a marketing leadership position, Its not up to one company its up to the entire industry to make sure that we are moving the conversation forward.

“Boz”, as she is known, scooped the 2016 Billboard Women in Music Executive of the Year and was introduced by Lady Gaga, who called her one of the “coolest people that I know”. As if that is not starry endorsement enough, among those congratulating her on the award was one Hillary Rodham Clinton. Saint John had supported her run for the White House by helping to set up an interview between Clinton and Mary J Blige, which aired on Apple Music

That's not a scandal. That's a feature, and a value-add.
Diversity is death. I will always fight it, and am indoctrinating my children to see it for what it is: A method of disenfranchising them in the country their ancestors created, built, and made great.
Actually, we don’t win on sewrial killings.
Black people actually excel at that, too, and it is estimated that they’d excel even more if they had better long term planning ability.
Because a serial killer caught on his first day is a “spree killer”, or similar.
I have a nephew who is one in the Annapolis area.
That’s what I say.
Who cares what color they are - can they do the job well?
That is all I care about.
Why do these stupid companies always respond to “criticism” over lack of diversity by running out and hiring the biggest moron minority they can find?
Can’t they just tell them to piss off?
“Spree” killing is just lowing the bar on “serial” killing so that there can be more diversity on list. I reject such pandering by race.
