WASHINGTON (AP) — It looks like President Donald Trump is getting the military parade he wants in Washington — though he may get no tanks for the effort.

A Pentagon planning memo issued Thursday and released Friday says the parade being planned for Nov. 11, Veterans Day, will “include wheeled vehicles only, no tanks — consideration must be given to minimize damage to local infrastructure.” Big, heavy tanks could tear up District of Columbia streets.

But the event will “include a heavy air component at the end of the parade,” meaning lots of airplane flyovers. Older aircraft will be included as available.

Since 9/11 planes can’t fly over DC. I SAW THE BLUE ANGELS FLY INDC for the Reagan funeral procession it was amazing how low they flew. I’ve seen them many times but in DC it was the best get tickets and hotel rooms now.

I remember that Barron Trump really enjoyed the big trucks on Inauguration Day parade. Maybe his dad is doing this for him:)

I suspect it is for a better reason than entertaining his son.

Without tanks it will be like a ballet without music.

For cryin' out loud, do you really think that little fact will matter to the frickin' DC city council?

Can you say cash grab, boys and girls? I knew you could! :-)

Everything is better with tanks!

Tanks and the tank corps rule!

No tanks.

More stupid fake news from the lying media.

How is it fake? You don't think the treads of a 65 ton tank won't rip up the streets?

This is bull. Tank treads come in two flavors all steel, for unimproved terrain, and combined steel and rubber for hardened streets. I worked on a project involving an actual M-1a tank. I saw the crew drive it around on a asphalt parking lot in summer and it left rubber marks but did not hurt the pavement at all and the were doing 360's!

More lies lies lies....

Marching bands are the best part of any parade!

This tank is equipped with the rubber pad tread designed to not damage hardened surfaces.

Tanks have treads that won’t hurt the streets. You don’t know what you are talking about- again.

I think it has more to do with weight than the treads. Roads are not constructed to handle the amount of weight of an M1 Abrams.

The pressure on each section of tread is way less than the pressure of a car's wheel. Next.

"They", being the leftist losers, want the parade to look ridiculous without armor. This is a way of making us look stupid by buying this lie.

Almost all college students would benefit from a few days of manual labor. As for slave labor, it’s enshrined in the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. Just drag them before a secret FISA court in batches.

Less pressure per square inch than a bicycle.

I was employed with BAE Systems in Texas.
On the Design team for the up armor
for the FMTV. We didn’t see too many
tracked vehicles, but I had remembered
they were working on tracks that would
lesson the impact of damage to city
streets, in one of their other divisions.

I was an NG 19k for a while after 4 years of the haze gray yacht club.

Same here except I was 13-B in a Howitzer battery. I was actually a ammo hauler for the guns. Major culture shock from Haze Gray wasn't it? LOL. First night at Ft Stewart in the field I climbed up in the back of the 5 ton to go to sleep. Gun crew slept while we worked and vice versa. The battery was given a fire mission and about the time I got to sleep they did a full battery fire. I swear my body rose 2 ft off the bench. I'll take haze gray any day LOL.

maybe you want them as slave labor on the white sea canal; it would them
good after all.

I‘m guessing from your comments that your income is derived from the gov‘t. Hence your worship of the gov‘t and your belief that the gov‘t owns its citizens as chattel

“...o many Hollywood types complain about regular citizens having guns....”

That’s because they can CONTROL the fake world of Hollywood.

It’s a bit ... different ... in the Real World, where people need to make instant life and death decisions when dealing with a dirtbag who has murderous intent.

They can complain all they want, restrict whatever they want, pass law after law all they.

I’ll ALWAYS have a gun. It’s the ultimate expression of not just “No!”, but “Oh HELL NO!”

And a giant middle finger to their faces. And if THAT ain’t quintessential American, then I don’t know what is.
