We all know by now that the average Democrat doesnt seem to like guns. Thats fine, of course, because most gun owners dont particularly like Democrats. Its only fair.
However, it also seems that Democrats are afraid someone might forget they dont like guns, which is why they make some of the most brain-dead proposals Ive ever seen. For example, take the latest effort.
A group of House Democrats has introduced a bill that would up the taxes on firearms and ammunition to pay for research on gun violence and its prevention.
The measure, H.R.5103, was introduced last week by U.S. Rep. Danny Davis of Illinois with nine co-sponsors. It aims to increase current taxes on guns and ammunition, as well as fees associated with National Firearms Act weapons.
Under the plan, ammunition would see excise taxes increase to 50 percent and firearms to 20 percent. Currently, manufacturers pay a long-running 11 percent excise tax on sporting firearms and ammunition under the PittmanRobertson Act, which goes to fund conservation efforts such as hunter education programs, public shooting ranges and preserving wildlife habitat. The jump in fees under Davis plan would be set aside for public safety grants and research.
Well, someone wants to make a name for themselves, now dont they?
It looks like Davis will succeed though none of the names I can think of for him are polite enough to post on a family-friendly website.
Lets make no mistake here. This bill is designed to dissuade people from buying guns. Its a funny thing that Democrats seem to understand that taxing something is a good way to keep people from doing something yet they still want to tax you for being successful.
Either way, though, this is a blatant and pathetic attempt to try and keep people from buying guns by trying to make them too expensive to purchase. The idea that a $1,000 rifle is now a $1,500 rifle is enough to keep a lot of people from making the purchase, which is the whole idea.
However, this bill has about as much chance of passing as I do of being named Everytown For Gun Safetys Man of the Year. Maybe even less.
While the GOP has appeared squishy on the issue of guns over recent weeks, theres no reason to think a proposal like this will fly. After all, this doesnt just target a handful of guns that some think are too dangerous for civilian hands, it targets everything. That includes the proverbial hunting rifle, all the ammunition people buy for their current guns, the works.
It wouldnt take long for that to be identified as a major problem, even by the Fudds. And lets be realistic here; if the Fudds wont support something like this, not many people will. Theyll see this as not just trying to stop new gun sales, but penalizing people who already own guns.
But thats what gun grabbers want to do. They dont just want to keep people from buying guns. They want to hurt the people who already have them.
Same assclown that got some award from CPUSA.
Translation: The money will go to fund anti-gun groups.
Butch Reno. Leading from the grave. This “ammo tax” was one of her loves.
Except, of course, on guns that protect them.
Mental midgets. All they want to do is obstruct, ban or tax.
"...menthol cigarette tax, malt liquor tax, weave/extension tax..."
Time to put their money where their mouth is.
This is political posturing, and this moron has no intention of seeing it pass.
In honor of this proposal, I’m buying myself a new firearm, as soon as I figure out what I want. Any thoughts on high-quality and reliable concealed carry semiautomatics?
Hey, tide pod eaters, since vehicular accidents are the number one cause of death for people under 25 lets add a premium tax on your drivers insurance and raise the age to drive a car to 21!!!!
Yes but poor people use guns to take from the rich.
Democrats for the little guy once again.
They don’t care if the poor are able to afford to defend themselves.
The choice always comes down to the M&P Shield or the Glock 43.
I went with the Shield. I shot it a little better.
This should go the same place as the poll tax on voting in the South years ago. It was viewed as a tax on voting and found illegal as it stopped blacks from voting.
“coffee can car exhaust”
I don’t know what this is/means.
Where has the tanning booth tax gone? That too was Racisssssssssssssssss
I’m tired of these Azzhats wasting my tax $.
Democrats Pitch Bill Creating 50 Percent Tax On Gun, Ammo Sales
These rectal orifice Dems sure know how to waste ink and paper. Morons.
SHAME ON THOSE AR 15S
FOR WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PARKSIDE SCHOOL BLAME GUNS
PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT POLICIES FAILURES MUST BE HIDDEN
The inability to counter this perverted agenda created by the democratic party ( in name only) goose stepping adherents in the media and must be contested. So they make up it is guns and the NRA garbage through their swill mills
DONT MENTION THIS
A dramatic reduction in disciplinary incidents at Parkside were reported after the selection of Obamas Chicago friend as school superintendent occurred which was publicly acclaimed.and was receiving large grant from Obamas Attorney General because of those results. That many critics claimed encouraged criminal activity. Which should require Trump Administration US Attorney General beside find out why when the FBI knew that Cruz should not be able to purchase weapons did. And review these grant programs instituted by the previous Obama administration.

>Research on gun violence and its prevention.
I can name that tune already (maybe I should hold out for some of that taxpayer $$$): GOVT
- Govt break-down of the nuclear family (marriage penalty, etc.)
- BIG govt (requiring 2 earners, bloated, ineffective)
- Govt enabling via welfare (poor parenting, poor facilities, etc.). Can’t have an entitled-mentality w/o ‘entitlements’
- Govt ‘education’\indoctrination
- Govt failing to uphold\enforce Law
When govt fails the Law and enables those that will not do for themselves, the culture therein degenerates.
That said, I have long maintained that if we adopted their tactics and did withhold weapons from groups of people in the same fashion they would, Leftists would be among the first group that we would not allow to own weapons.
If we did, it wouldn't be because of what they believe, it would be because the observation of Leftism forces its adherents to actively practice the Orwellian concept of "Doublethink", the exercise of holding two diametrically opposed thoughts in your mind and believing them both to be true, though it is impossible that they both be true. The kicker is, the person engaging in doublethink must sincerely believe them both to be true.
To engage in this process for humans results in cognitive dissonance for the person, the psychological stress of bending the mind to accomplish this, even if the Orwellian concept of sincere belief cannot be realized. Humans are very good at rationalizing, and sometimes the more intelligent a person is, the easier it is to rationalize something and come to grips with it.
But coming to grips with it instead of achieving a powerful form of self deception carries a price tag. One article states:
"...It appears that extended exposure to cognitive dissonance ignites an initial emotional reaction that is then mediated by the rationalization process. "If no rationalization can be made, or if the emotion cannot be effectively controlled by the individual, then the initial emotional reaction may grow more powerful, resulting in mood-regulation disorders such as depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder..."
That is a bunch of psychobabble, but what it boils down to for me is that I see many Leftists as being too mentally unstable to safely own weapons.
Who commits, by far and beyond in this country, the most violent crime with weapons? The statistics bear out that it is Leftists.
