A court squabble has erupted over the handling of Nikolas Cruz’s inheritance from his late mother — a fight that could determine whether the school shooter is entitled to be free representation from the public defender or must hire a private lawyer.

Boca Raton attorney Audra Simovitch filed an amended petition in Broward County probate court this week, alleging that Rocxanne Deschamps, a friend of Cruz’s mother who cared for Cruz and his younger brother after their mother died, should not be appointed to represent the estate. {snip}

... A hearing scheduled in probate court was abruptly canceled last week, and Simovitch filed a motion alleging that Deschamps was trying to obfuscate various matters concerning the estate, court records show.

Simovitch, in Tuesday’s motion, details what she calls a litany of “red flags” that the court should consider alarming about Deschamps. It said Deschamps has in recent days worked against Simovitch in the lawyer’s effort to find out what the estate is worth and to share that information with the court and...

it's a little curious that Deschamps insists on being present when Simovitch meets with the boy.

Did she promise him something if he signed her on as co-admin and then go back on that promise? Something is froggy here.

We should have a pool betting on who first says, “It’s not about the money.”

Because it’s always about the money.

His money should go to his victims funerals and hospital bills when he’s found guilty.

The murder is not a boy......he is 19. By law he is an adult

>> a litany of “red flags”

A sadly ironic concern. But since it concerns money, and not the kids, it’ll get ‘adequate’ attention.

He is a byproduct of the taxpayer-funded bureaucrats that ignored his criminal insanity.

Just when we thought this incident couldn’t get any uglier, in come the lawyers. I wonder if the Coward County Sheriffs have their council involved?

Cruz will probably get a public defender but his inheritance will go towards paying off his legal bills and if there’s any thing left over - to pay his victims.

Whatever his ultimate fate, he won’t stand to benefit from it.

Strangely enough there are more lawyers in DC than anywhere else. Now at least we know how the money is being bunneled and laundered. For our own good, of course.

You struck upon an interesting point regarding whether or not Cruz is an adult. IMO, a crime of this seriousness, whether or not the perp is 5 yo or 95 or sane or insane is not relevant. The person that commits the crime should receive the same treatment whether 5 or 95. If electrocution, a needle or a rope are in order, the same should apply equally. IMO the idea is to eliminate scum like this from the face of the earth.

He and his brother are both entitled. The “killer” brother should sign off and it should be put into trust for the younger brother until he is of age. The court should appoint a guardian...(and not the friendly scammer)....and no more.

We should have a pool betting on who first says, “It’s not about the money.” Because it’s always about the money.

Often with liberals, it's about gaining power over others. Because power can be traded for money. Also, liberals use their money to buy power because they like controlling us "ordinary people".

It has never been addressed that I have seen, but I have always wondered just where this 19-year old got the money to buy his weapons?

Any money that ends up in the murderer’s possession will be paid out in lawsuits. He doesn’t have anything.
