How does one retire if one is “broke”?
If you want to eat and have a roof over your head, you don’t retire.
Retirement is becoming, for many, an unreachable, outdated concept.
the whole concept of retirement was created during the great depression to get older workers to step aside to open up jobs for younger ones.
It’s all bs
Yep, my dad is still working in his 70s, while friends of his who retired in their 50s and 60s are strugglig bad.
Retirement is a recent fantasy. Until fairly recently, you worked as long as you could, then family would care for you and you would perform tasks such as supervising and teaching children and cooking and housekeeping.

Regardless of its inception, when GOVT has, illegally/uncost., created economic SLAVES out of 50% of the populace.

96 MILLION people were long term unemployed for 8 solid years, wanting to work but finding nothing. Their unemployment benifits totally used up with no hope of finding a job millions of American CITIZENS were forced into taking an early Social Security retirement just to survive. They didn't want to, they HAD TO!
Thus, you now have MILLIONS of American citizens forced to retire who have no financial cushion whatsoever because Obama his minions and the RIONS and demoncrats successfully "fundamentally transformed" America and redistributed the wealth of the middle class in order to fund and financially support his illegal alien buddies and other non-white, underclass of potential future demoncrat voters.
Too many people make bad decisions and fail to take care of themselves. You must have a strategy.
My income will double when I “retire” because I have no plans to retire and I will get a pension. I like what I do and plan to do it until I die.
Involuntary. Disabled. Forced comes to mind.
