President Donald Trump is responding to a trade war not starting one he inherited by pursuing a level playing field via tariffs, wrote former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Monday.
Palin pointed to comments made by Breitbart Newss Senior Editor-at-Large Rebecca Mansour last Thursday about Trumps proposals to combat economic warfare waged by China to destroy Americas steel and aluminum manufacturers.
....
The Trump Doctrine illustrates the presidents wisdom via his private sector experience, wrote Palin:
President Trump inherited this trade war, and hes an atypical politician determined to actually do something to fix the problem. The Trump Doctrine involves finally enforcing rules and standards to level the playing field which proves the wisdom of private sector perspective brought to the White House.
President Trump is consistent on tariffs. Hes preached about fair competition via tariffs for decades, so why all this feigned shock at his recent proposal?
No matter though, because middle class Americans concerned about our industrial demise get it. And we see the heads exploding over this issue sit atop career bureaucrats, globalists and typical politicians whove done nothing to fix trade imbalances
which pretty much says it all.

Just look at what happens when someone is actually elected to help the American People.
Exactly why the “Death to America” crowd hates him. He wants America to win.
When the American President actually looks out for the well being of the American people instead of looking at the numbers in his off-shore account go up, things actually start to change.
There will be no trade war.
There will be many tightly limited raids on international customers for specific Harmonized Tariff numbers
The free trade money changers dont like it when their bottom line is being attacked.
Neither do the Corporate America cheap labor mavens. They will be Trump’s biggest opposition, via their paid off lackeys in Congress.
We have a president who truly understands the economy
When I first started vetting DJT ran across a 1991 video of him schooling congress on how to fix the economy. He was so knowledgeable and polite (and so young). Changed a few minds with that video.
Sarah’s partly right, but it might be more accurate to say Trump is fighting a trade war we’ve been retreating from and even surrendering to for decades.
Yeah, I was going to say that we had already surrendered in this trade war, but I think you’re more accurate... we’ve been actively supporting the enemy.
Agree 100%.
Some years ago Hollywood made a fairly bad movie called “Dave” starring Kevin Kline. IIRC the plot was that the president (typical sort of Washington guy — played by Kevin Kline) was out of commission (health?) and the power brokers didn’t want to admit it, so they found a guy who looked like the president (hardware shop owner — played by Kevin Kline).
The fake guy was supposed to just be there for photo ops but pretty soon he was trying to run the government like a hardware store. Didn’t waste money. Didn’t spend money he didn’t have. Treated people like customers and not like peasants. Followed the rules.
I believe at the end of the movie, the guy with business experience in the real world is able to reveal the deep corruption of Washington and ushers in a new era where law-breaking by the political elite is no longer tolerated.
Hollywood loved “Dave”. It was wise and wonderful and showed that working class people like Dave (*cough* Democrats) were so much smarter and more moral than Washington DC Political Elitists (*cough* Republicans).
Of course, today the shoe is on the other foot and the corruption is being exposed, and Hollywood doesn’t like it so well.
Some of them anyway. Trying to increase jobs in the steel and aluminum industry by raising tariffs will come at the cost of higher prices for all, and lost jobs in other industries that lose business as a result of the retaliatory tariff increases from foreign countries.
Looks like that is what Sarah actually said and the Breitbart headline misrepresents it. She didn't say we'd been just fighting the trade war for decades, but that we'd been losing the trade war.
Trump willing to wage trade war we have been getting screwed on for decades.
We still luv ya Sarah
The most brilliant comment on the topic so far.
Please put me on the Sarah Palin ping list... TY
