HALF OF AMERICANS AGREE with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's comments that corporations are giving their workers "crumbs" as a result of the tax bill, according to a poll released Friday by a group aligned with President Donald Trump.
America First Priorities, found 49 percent of respondents agreed with the California Democrat, whose remarks pointed out the disparity in the windfall companies received in December with the passage of a major tax cut compared to the comparatively small bonuses they're handing out to their employees.
"In terms of the bonus that corporate America received versus the crumbs that they are giving to workers to kind of put the schmooze on is so pathetic. It's so pathetic," Pelosi said in a Jan. 11 news conference. "And I would hope that with their big advantage of bringing money home at a very low rate, that they would invest in infrastructure and things. But our experience has been that they will do dividends. They will do stock buybacks and things like that. I think it's insignificant."
Trump and congressional Republicans have seized on Pelosi's remarks in an effort to make them this year's version of Hillary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" a disparaging reference to Trump supporters that Republicans effectively used to rally their base during the presidential campaign.
The America First Priorities poll, which was conducted Feb. 16-20, also found 44 percent of respondents approved of Trump's job as president, while 53 percent disapproved. Respondents gave an edge, 44 percent to 37 percent, to Republicans and Trump over Democrats and Pelosi when asked who they trusted more to successfully lead the country.
America First Priorities is a nonprofit super PAC officially designated as a "social welfare organization," meaning that it is not supposed to coordinate directly with Trump, the White House or

I am confused.
This poll is from a group called “America First Priorities” per US News and World Report. They describe it as a pro Trump Group. I can find nothing on the web about who “America First Priorities” is.
There is a group that is called “America First Policy” which is a pro Trump group.
I smell false flag Agitprop. Anyone have any info on this?
And some of us are really pi$$ed at the Democrats and obama for slamming us with Obamacare.
The message should be Democrats bad, Republicans good.
I don’t believe it but if it were true it would be the 50% who are on the government take.
With that being said, my March pension check resulted in $56 less taxes being withheld............Certainly not crumbs to me.
You know, thats a good point. What good does it do to poll a random sampling of people of which 40% pay nothing into the kitty? Seems like a more accurate poll would only include actual tax payers.
Of course, accuracy isnt what theyre going for here...
Nothing.
Look at the other part of the poll - the respondents advised they go with Trump and Republicans over Pelosi and Democrats 44 to 37 percent over who they trust to run the country. The 49 percent level supposedly “agreeing” with Pelosi is almost certainly way down from where it would have been 2 months ago. This poll is actually good news overall. The US News headline is what is the problem - it is spinning results of a favorable poll to be a negative for the GOP.
It appears from most of the comments it had the desired effect of the headline writer.
What this is telling us is that Americans want more and bigger tax cuts!
This is great news!
And what party can deliver them? Certainly not the Democrats who are promising to raise taxes again.
U.S. News?
More like U.S. Snooze.
5.56mm
Right - read the rest of the polling data. This was actually an overall good poll for the GOP they spin in the headline and opening paragraph as a negative to misinform the readers. I would that 49% number is likely way down on what it would have been 2 months ago so that is also positive news.
When you live in the land of the free “stuff”, you always want more. Don’t pay income tax, no big deal, demand free money its a tax rebate you earned from getting free stuff.
As usual, heavily D+ oversampled.
Of which the majority are unemployed anyway so how the hell would they know.
yup little bit of a different name.
Well I guess that does it then, Trump really screwed up this time and people will vote for someone who raises taxes and takes all their crumbs away /s
I’d be interested in a poll that asks what Americans think about the crumbs Pelosi and hubby pay their workers.
If they did an honest poll, they only would have polled people who are actually employed.
The point of the tax bill was not bonuses. They are not crumbs but of course most goes to the companies. The workers get their own tax cuts.
Wellllll..... My husband got $9 more a month.
Not that I’d support Pelosi or the Democrats on anything, but it is what it is. Could be the increase in our health care costs took a big chunk. So I can thank Jerry Brown for my ‘crumbs’. As soon as we have a chance to come out ahead, he pulls the rug out from under us.
