Understanding the strategy behind President Trump's twitter slam of AG Sessions
american thinker ^ | 3/1/2018 | thomas lifson

I have a strong suspicion that the current kerfuffle between President Trump and Jeff Sessions is part of a strategy, not merely – as the left has it – a rogue president shockingly, immaturely, and inappropriately attacking his attorney general on Twitter.

By now, you have probably seen the tweet in question:

Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 28, 2018 Occam's Razor suggests that the president means it and that he really wants DOJ prosecutors charged with going after Comey and is genuinely angry at Sessions. But I always see Donald Trump as a master of the video narrative, an expert crafter of story arcs that work to his advantage, and which often lure his opponents into positions that redound to his benefit once all the facts and drama have played themselves out before the nation's eyes. Never forget that Donald Trump is the most successful reality television producer in the history of the medium. And never forget that he played the media like a Stradivarius violin during the campaign, exploiting their predictable outrage.

If it were already posted, I would not have known that since I would not have seen it. Do you spend all your hapless hours glued to FR?

Sorry. We're not supposed to post duplicates. We're supposed to search before posting. If a poster searches, and some how misses that it was posted, it's no big deal.

BTW, I've been here nineteen years and I can't think of another time I told a poster that their article was a duplicate. You should look at your own hapless post and then look in the mirror.

I agree, 3E.

There is NO WAY this man, who was one of the strongest Senators, has turned weak.

I read somewhere that, as a prosecutor, he was known as “Silent but Deadly.”

I just did several searches of the article title using one or two of the title words. The results all showed that this article was posted at 11:09 AM EST, and now again at 10:44 PM EST. There is nothing wrong here.

Who has the time to read articles here all morning and then all night too, and even if some do have the time, why be offended that others are given the chance to read it tonight?

I recall FR moderators saying that around two hours of separation is acceptable for duplicate posts, and I saved a quote for your edification. . .

“Duplicate posts of articles are OK as long as they aren’t real close to each other.” (posted by Admin Moderator)

Trump is playing his opposition, read mind control...
Over at the DUmp, they hated Sessions last week, Trump goes after him and they are defending him... Over night change. Same thing went for Mueller, Trump told him what he should be looking into and threatened to fire him, and the same lefties went insane and planned for marching in the streets if Mueller got fired. These are both staunch Republicans, Pretty sure Mueller is compromised by Uranium one and working for Trump to keep his butt out of prison... Trump is publicly helping Sessions seize all the power that office holds. Also setting the table for Special Counsel, Gowdy is my prediction. Trump is playing this like a genius. This will take a little time, but pretty sure it will be over in plenty of time for upcoming elections, He knows he has to keep the house to not be impeached at this point. Draining this swamp will have Democrats supporting him when it’s over.

Well now..

We have duplicate posts posted 12 HOURS apart. Contrary to your assertion that this never happened in your 19 years on FR, it DOES happen with a frequency that obviously would shock you.

Maybe the time frame you are referring to is that year gap between when you signed up and when I signed up, but in the eighteen years I’ve been here there have always been duplicate posts. Now what does happen is that a Mod will lock one or the other of the duplicate pair if they are posted too close together (which does happen especially during breaking news cycles), but even in that instance the locked duplicate is not removed.

If this truly knots your thong you could ping Admin Mod or even JimRob and take it up with them. JimRob’s been around longer than you. Or I.

(Yes I know that ‘mention them, ping them’ is a ‘rule’ here but I don’t think it’s necessary to ping either JimRob or AdminMod to this thread. If your grits are sufficiently grated by this, feel free to do so yourself.)

That's a term typically used by juveniles to describe quiet farts that smell really bad.

I suppose it's appropriate.

So sick of you Sessions bashers. Can't wait til he serves all of your asses crow.

I think most of us Sessions bashers would love to eat crow, considering now the price we've paid for him; losing perhaps the safest Senate seat in the chamber and seeing good people destroyed by process crimes in this farce of an investigation that has hobbled Trump's presidency.

I'd love to see Hillary in handcuffs so I could exclaim, "Wow! Look at that! I was wrong about Jeff Sessions! He really is a pit bull!"

You didn’t read it did you? How long do you have to watch Trump work before you quit running with surface impressions?

You are not really dumping on Sessions. You are calling Trump incompetent. Many people have called Trump incompetent and a fool. He keeps Trumping them.

Okay or not (meaning I assume some dupes won't be summarily deleted), duplicates result in spreading out the commentary and making it less likely a given reader will be exposed to previous thoughts.

I tend to post on first submission threads and not even read duplicates of the same article.

The Duplicate Post is a losing argument. I complained about duplicate post a few months back and was trounced by Freepers that it is the responsibility of the duplicate posters to keep articles “above the fold” because some did not have the time to read all the post on Free Republic.

Seems like Free Republic has become USA Today for some. Something to scan with the morning coffee.

I was told very clearly to just not “click” on a duplicate post. I was told that if the post was from a different “source” it was O.K.

Over the years, Free Republic has lost it’s tight community “feel”. I don’t think it is malicious, just unavoidable.

Heard an example of the Trump trump, when DACA was front an center a few weeks back Trump stepped up and offered his plan which was a more generous plan that Obama’s and they all turned it down, he knew this would happen that’s why he offered it, because it is more important to them NOT to be viewed as supporting Trump than solving their pet legislation. I think he is purposely distancing himself from sessions and making sessions seem like a meek, timid paper tiger until the time is right and they can lower the boom. This would be the greatest

You really should read the column. All may not be lost. As DJT proved during the campaign, he is a master at manipulating the media.
