Senate Democrats offered their ante Thursday in the renewed gun control debate, saying any bill must expand background checks and allow court-ordered gun confiscations while demanding a vote on a semi-automatic rifle ban
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer of New York said his Democratic caucus is prepared to provide a “very large” number of votes for those priorities.
“This is what we think should be done. This is the right thing to do” Mr. Schumer said.

Honestly, I am not too concerned about Trumps comments the other day on on this. He doesn’t calibrate his comments and parse his statements the way traditional politicians do (thankfully) but the downside is that things come out and are interpreted as having more meaning than they do.
I do keep in mind, though, that if anything, Trump is indeed a bit unpredictable, so he will make mistakes in the next few years. It is how he follows up on those that counts to me.

When I was CO of our MI company, my BN CO told me to make my guys go to PTSD training so they can get more money. I told him that was a very bad idea and that the Democrats would hang this around veteran's necks. (See! They are crazy! The whole company is crazy! Make them prohibited persons!).
He finally let me do my job and gave a briefing on this to my guys. Pretty smart kids, most didn't go, but the dumb ones went to get "free money". .....and I know they didn't have PTSD because we were a TUAS unit with Shadows and Raven UAVs. We were in air conditioned bunkers. Mandatory 8 hours sleep. No one walked the perimeter or went on patrol. Cush deployment......and they still went for PTSD.
Damn shame.
