President Trump on Wednesday voiced support for confiscating guns from certain individuals deemed to be dangerous, even if it violates due process rights.
I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy mans case that just took place in Florida ... to go to court would have taken a long time, Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence.
Take the guns first, go through due process second, Trump said.

Did you know that there was no criminal complaint on this murderer? zero. You have to have a criminal com, plaint on probable cause. We don’t just “call in” to go scoop people up! If that is the case let’s call in the youth in Chicago!!. But you and I agree to train arm and pay teachers to prevent this scenario ever again and Trump is with us on that but that does not abrogate our due process right in any way. That will not be allowed. Due process FIRST!!
“President Trump is wrong, very wrong,...”
No doubt about it. And at a time when it should be so easy to be right.
This is the problem with the entirely subjective Make America ‘Great’ Again routine. . . who defines ‘Great’?
How about making America Free again for a freaking change !?!
The correct way to address this is to say to the cameras:
“Look, the school tragedy happened BECAUSE of fed level money and guidance in school/police policy... NOT due to a lack of it.”
Before Obama/Holder/PROMISE/blah, what did this district do? It had a very much higher rate of conviction/correction going on. This troubled kid was one result of that fed level dirty money ‘help.’
We should quit trying to decide what is the ‘better’ fed approach and just get the hell out. A good fed level approach to such problems does not exist. I don’t understand why anyone at a place called FreeRepublic would think there could be one.
And that puts the Republic on very thin ice. Secret plans and 4D chess are no where in his B$ statements today.
I know, FreedomNotSafety decides who is crazy and deserves to lose their 2nd amendment rights. We don’t need no stinkin 2nd amendment rights. Are the newly tolerant of crazy people on FR crazy, and deserving of losing their 2nd amendment rights.
You need to recognize how serious the threat to our Republic is. This man is all that stands between us and them.
Let’s make the minimum age for selective service 21. Also, voting age 21. Right?
Thank you for reminding us of that.
If he gives in on 2nd Amendment & follows NeoCon warseeking behavior, a constitutional non-interventionist conservative will beat him in the 2020 primaries.
How is crazy defined?
I was reading some idiot thing about “militias”. The liberal writer thought that it would be a good idea, and that everyone with a gun had to join a militia. And get together twice a year to train and stuff.
“And then - you can find out the crazy guy that doesn’t fit in. You and your buddies are talking about deer hunting, and this guy comes along with a Confederate Flag on his cap talking about government intrusion.” (No - the article wasn’t satire.)
So yes - to a liberal, if you have Confederate flag - you are crazy, and shouldn’t have a gun.
As someone who's own grandson has been through a lock down this week, cause a kid brought a gun to school, I understand that emotional response...even though it doesn't help anything.
What bothered me worse about the President's comments were the repeated refrain "You're afraid of the NRA".
Has he drunk the liberal's Kool-Aid that innocent Americans in the NRA are the boogeyman that must be taken down?
That's cause for real concern...........
No, he wont look foolish
Probably can, subject to due process. The ATF banned them under GWB, reversed it under Obama. So they could reverse their reversal. Like most things, this really would be better done legislatively.
You must be crazy to think crazy people have due process rights when they are armed. We have a right against unreasonable search and seizure and the right to due process. It is not unreasonable to disarm a crazy person.
Crazy people with guns is different than crazy people. If you cannot tell the difference then I understand your point of view.
There could have been all sorts of criminal complaints - but they weren’t followed through to a conviction. I’m not sure he even made it down to the police station.
He hit people with chairs, shot at neighbor’s chicken’s and who knows what else. Terroristic threats. Many of them could have led to a conviction.
No criminal complaint, no psychiatric referral. So what can you do? Given the large number of complaints to the police, I wonder if citizens were discouraged from filing a complaint. But if there’s no complaint, and no one does their job, there’s nothing more to do. We agree on due process, it’s a vital part of the process which protects the rest of us. Here the process never started.
Sensible, happy, lawful solution there.
“Take guns 1st, due process 2nd”
Then it’s NOT DUE PROCESS!
Arrest someone about to commit a crime.
Give him a speedy trial like it says - NOT years in prison waiting for trial clogged courts.
THAT is a government problem, NOT an excuse to violate the Bill Of Rights
They’re focused on NON-crimes & do nothing like Sheriff Benghazi.
Age is not the issue. If it was then we would have seen it the moment the 2nd Amendment was implemented.
What is the new factor that came into play and soon as these shootings started? It’s also the common denominator among all the high school shootings.
Young minds on years of psychotropic drugs. That’s the problem and no one in Washington is talking about it.
Better yet, perhaps the government shouldn't give money to schools that team up with police to not arrest little thugs.
How about finding the clip for yourself. He said it pure and simple and had DiFi grinning from ear to ear.
“Has he drunk the liberal’s Kool-Aid that innocent Americans in the NRA are the boogeyman ...”
Trump is WORSE than the libs in that regard! At least they always hate us.
Trump, on the other (left) hand, blathers on about how great the NRA is and then, entirely for imagined political points, he blames others for siding with the NRA.
Dick move.
