That “The Second Amendment only constrains government” doesn’t make sense based on the rest of the words above.
The Second Amendment states and acknowledges “The right of the people to keep and bear arms” as an existing right not a right granted by government. If “It’s an unalienable right”, its statement and acknowledgement as such in the Second Amendment, constrains not just government but also others from violating it just like they are constrained from violating the right to life and the right to liberty. Furthermore, “to secure these rights governments are instituted among men” so governments are instituted to secure this right and therefore must constrain others from violating it.
All that lives has the right to self defense.
Chase down a stray cat and grab a hold of it bare handed for a quick lesson in self defense.
When the fighting starts remember the media is the eyes and ears of the tyrants.

The reason for the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting or self defense. Try to figure out the real reason for it yourself. I will not tell you.
Someone posted an in-depth analysis of the 2nd the other day - result was the it didn’t give us right to bear arms - it acknowledges the existing God-given right and merely expounds that the government can’t infringe on it because the armed People have to be able to defend themselves against a rogue government.
I don’t blame the media - I blame the people that believe them. Each member of this society has a responsibility to be informed and use that information to vote responsibly. Most people are too lazy and enamored with “The Voice”, “The Bachelor”, “Survivor”, and playing with their iPhone while they are attempting to ‘drive’ their cars, etc. to spend any time being responsible adults. The rest of us pay for their slothfulness (if that is a word).

Some clauses of the Constitution are observed, while most are not. Those in force are those that established the three branches, elections, Washington DC as the seat of government, presidential vetoes, etc. I regard these as ‘hard’ clauses, those that are observed and unabused.
On the other hand, most clauses in our Constitution are ‘soft’ in nature, and comprise what James Madison referred to as mere parchment barriers. For instance, soft clauses are among the myriad that deal with regulation of commerce, taxation, free speech rights and the placement of all legislative powers in congress. These, the soft clauses, are disregarded, if not inverted, to serve purposes opposite of their clear intent.
On closer inspection, we find that hard Constitutional clauses have an institution or an interest group to defend them. Otherwise, and without defense, they are sure to fall into the soft category and be soon disregarded.
To the extend that the 2A is observed is because groups like the NRA stand ready to visit electoral hell on the pols who won't defend it.

well its either get rid of a 100 or so broadcasters, or quite a few million morons! Lokk at it as me being lazy! ;)
People are frightened by the thought of one pissed-off teenager with a rifle.
They have no inkling of the nightmare that hundreds of furious adults with rifles, and skill, and a plan, could bring to their peaceful little world, should a gun confiscation be attempted. And that’s just from one little town. The next town has even more.
I’ve heard that American deer hunters alone make up the second largest infantry in the world, behind only the Chinese. Do the gun-grabbers really think they can pull off their wet dream of full disarmament? Seriously?
