Florida Gov. Rick Scott asked the state’s law-enforcement commissioner Sunday to immediately investigate the response to the deadly school shooting last week in Parkland.
Mr. Scott’s move comes as Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said he was further investigating his officers’ handling of the shooting as criticism mounts that the agency failed to stop the gunman.
The law-enforcement commissioner is Rick Swearingen, who was appointed to the post in 2014 and has more than 30 years of experience in the state and capitol-police agencies
Detectives with the sheriff’s office are reviewing claims from officers in nearby Coral Springs Police Department that some Broward deputies failed to enter the school at the appropriate time, the sheriff’s office said late Saturday.
One deputy stationed at the school resigned Thursday after an investigation found he waited outside the building during much of the attack that claimed 17 lives.
“There is no confirmation, at this time, other deputies did not enter the school when they should have,” the office said in a news release. “Again, it’s a claim being investigated to determine if further action is warranted.”

Good point. The longer Israel stays in office, the longer the story is about his criminal negligence. I just saw a report that Scott said he wasn’t going to suspend Isreale.

Scott is smelling the feces - there is so much bad info available about Israel and the school that if he does nothing, his political career is toast.
Just finished listening to the Jake Tapper interview of Sheriff Israel.
Is Sheriff Israel from Massachusetts? He seems to have a New England accent. If so, that could explain his leftist viewpoints.
Born in New York, Israel is the son of a New York homicide detective. He began his career as a patrol officer for the Fort Lauderdale police department in 1979, later working narcotics in the 1980s and 1990s, when crime was rampant. Israel has been the subject of 10 internal affairs complaints, mainly for excessive force, although he was cleared in all of them. He served a stint as a SWAT commander and was North Bay Village chief of police from 2004 to 2008, but left to run for sheriff in 2008 and 2012. Israel eventually won in 2012, and easily won re-election in 2016.

30 or so years ago FDLE was no nonsense and very good, not sure about them these days.
The legislature needs to do the investigation. Cops investigating cops does not give me confidence. In the meantime, suspend him.

All that “Federal money” these Broward County School and Sheriff “experts” were talking about had to come from someplace.....
broward was one of the counties algore cherry picked in his attempt to steal the presidency in 2000.
Gov Scott needs to have Horatio come in and kick some ass.
Not to mention the school system....and all the big city schools for that matter. In fact, how about a big "look-back" at all these Obama-era school shoot-ups.
I'll bet we find a lot of people, both LEOs and on the street that either are, or should be "breaking rocks".

I think they will find out that this Sheriff’s office let this kid Nick Cruz go on a crime in the past that they should have prosecuted him on - enabling him to still get a gun.

Israel should resign, but the real blame is on the policy of Obama and his idiot liberal fascist supporters in Florida. Governor Scott needs to make this right ASAP!
