Former First Lady Michelle Obama announced the title of her hotly anticipated first memoir, Becoming, and it’s Nov. 13 release date—when it will be simultaneously published in 24 languages worldwide—in a statement to PEOPLE on Sunday. “Writing Becoming has been a deeply personal experience,” Obama says. “It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life … how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others.”
The yet-unreleased book jacket portrait of the author, whose first book, the 2012 American Grown focused on her White House kitchen garden and nutrition initiatives as first lady, was taken by celebrity portrait photographer Miller Mobley, who gave People an exclusive preview from one of his shoots with Obama, 54.
In statement from Markus Dohle, CEO of Penguin Random House, the publisher of Obama’s upcoming book suggests that it will stretch the confines of a traditional former first-lady memoir the same way Obama’s official portrait for the Smithsonian did. “Becoming is an unusually intimate reckoning from a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same,” the publisher said.
Obama, whose husband, former president Barack Obama is writing his presidential memoir (for an expected 2019 release), will promote Becoming on a U.S. and international book tour, the publisher said, adding that 1 million books will be donated in the Obamas’ name to the educational nonprofit program called First Book.
In her limited number of public appearances since leaving the White House, Obama has given some hints about the book she’s been writing, saying primarily that she hopes it will be inspirational.

When I finally moved into my own apartment at 18 I got air conditioning. Even then it was a wall unit for the entire 2 bedroom apartment. The bedrooms got hot in the summer.
Til then every single house we lived in had a swamp cooler.
My first air conditioner? About 1984. I was 40.
Will it include non-existent or photoshopped pictures of her two pregnancies? Will there be an intimate and revealing passage about why there was a flopping pants-sausage on full display on the Ellen DeGeneres Show?
Does the book explain why she appears to have a man’s junk in many photos? Does it reveal who actually posed for that cartoon she calls a portrait?
Exactly; the ashen pallor that is her soul.
Americans desperately need a “Leave Office, Go Home And Shut Up” law.
We dont want or need these “eternal presidencies” like the Clintons and Obamas.
These creeps are exploiting the presidency for their own get-rich-quick scams.
It has to stop.
The painting makes her look like a white girl with a nice tan. No resemblance at all.
I’m sure she will explain how she became proud of her country for the first time ever, and why she is no longer proud of America in the Age of Trump.

at least one chapter should address showing respect for the flag, anthem, and colors. She is nationally known for setting an example.

I would not believe one single word of that book. I guess the tv will really be off for awhile now while she goes on every show known to man to promote herself
