The USSR used ‘fake opposition’ as a political strategy, effectively. If anyone thinks that the left in America wouldn’t or haven’t infiltrated the GOP, they are being very naive. In the USSR, the ‘fake opposition’ would oppose the politburo and the communist party on some issues - to establish their position as ‘the opposition’, but when it came to very big issues, they sided with the communists and politburo.
You can bet with confidence that some Republicans are fake opposition.
