'He never went in': Parkland school's designated armed campus cop resigns as it emerges he 'HID' outside the school as 17 were killed and sheriff says 30-year

A police officer who was on duty at a Florida high school and did nothing to stop gunman Nikolas Cruz when he started his massacre has been suspended.

Deputy Scot Peterson, who was armed with a handgun, did follow police procedure and immediately confront Cruz when he started his rampage killing 17 people with an AR-15 assault rifle, according to the Broward County Sheriff's department.

Instead he took cover at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for upwards of four minutes and 'never went in ', according to Sheriff Scott Israel who said Peterson's actions left him 'Sick to my stomach. There are no words.'

We are beginning to get a picture of what modern day law enforcement is in South FL. Go no further than the gun grabbing Sheriff who appeared with Dana Loesch at the “Orwell 1984” CNN Town Hall meeting with students, easily duped, during the emotion of what they have been through.

This shows that the sheriff hid the fact during the CNN Town Hall Meeting that his deputy was on site during the shooting. I guess that wouldn't fit the gun grabbing narrative of CNN that only the police should have weapons.

Today I am trying to figure out how to conceal a 300 Blackout AR with 12 inch barrel and 30 round mag. I want to make this my EDC.

This. Police have almost the same rules of engagement policies as the military. He would have disobeyed policy. Not that HE would have gone in, but doubt he was supposed to do other than he did

No police officer anywhere in America has an obligation to save anyone. Per the US supreme court.

Yet the liberals want everyone to disarm because only the government should be allowed to protect people.

Why do so many Americans believe the bullshit coming out of the MSM? Why are so many people living with their heads in the sand? Does a simple majority of the American public TRULY believe that the government is the panacea to all of our ills? They can't protect 3200 kids in a high school, but they can protect 350 million Americans? C'mon!

The liberals are tying themselves into knots over this, because they can't let this crisis go to waste. Meanwhile, more truth is coming out about the school district, the law enforcement response (20 minute CCTV delay? Really?), the missed signs with the shooter, the botched FBI response, and the failure of the school to provide any level of coordinated responsibility for student safety, but oh yeah, let's BLAME GUNS! THEY'RE ALL EVIL! THEY ONLY KILL! THEY SERVE NO OTHER PURPOSE!

I'm so over these lying bastards. The media, the government representatives, these astroturf liberal useful idiots... I pray for sanity to return to this nation, and quickly!

In my city, SWAT officers are trained for combat situations. Most of them are ex military, where they had more training and often actual combat experience. Most of the ordinary officers aren’t trained to the same level.

I don’t know if we have “school resource officers”. I expect SROs are mostly trained in diversity and sensitivity.

Unless this officer in Florida had real training for combat situations (which is the responsibility of his boss, the Sheriff), it’s not reasonable to expect him to run into an unknown shooter situation by himself. We HOPE a policeman would run in, but we have no right to EXPECT it will happen every time.

I think the sheriff should show us the fellow’s training record, and his standing orders for active shooter situations. Until then, I’ll put most of the blame for the officer’s inaction on the sheriff, who is probably covering his own butt at this point.

I won’t criticize the officer from the safety of my armchair unless I see evidence that his actions were well short of what he was trained to do.

“As Mara Liaison said last night on Bret Baier’s stupid show: this is why we can’t have armed guards in school!”
*************************************************************************
I saw that and was dumbfounded. The leftist establishment (and, yes, Liasson is a lefty) will go to any lengths to prevent well-trained, screened teachers from having the means to protect their students.

We need to 100% defund federal support of NPR (Liasson’s home base) immediately.

This is the first time I realized just how dumb she was. Talk about grasping at straws. That show has really gone to hell in a hand basket led by Bret “Beaver Cleaver” Baier.

I think the answer to the question why do so many believe the BS, simply the schools teach all to be followers, not free thinkers and leaders.

Almost all of the political "talk" shows are like this. Always provide a forum for someone advocating a position based on emotion not substance. Why give equal time?

Or, the panel is stacked for one point of view.

These isues are exacerbated by the celebritification (new word?) of news people and politicians. They all care more about their re-election, approval ratings and which parties they're invited to than what they are elected or hired to do.

Maybe it's time for a news show that only "reports" the news.

Yes, yes, and more yes. People become politicians today because it is a means to extreme wealth and fame. Our founders must be weeping in heaven.

Once again AR-15’s are flying off the shelves. I’ve got to stock up on .223. 9 Mil & .45 ACP stash seems OK.

When seconds count, police are only minutes away, if they bother to show up at all!

Oh, really? So, you think Bret Baier is an intellectual? And Mara Liaison is bright given her last appearance? And that Jonah Goldberg and Steve Hayes are all committed to this president? Unless, of course, you are a Never Trumper. God knows we have enough of them around here.
