The sheriffs deputy who failed to engage the shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School believed he did a good job because he called in the location of the massacre and gave a description of the shooter, a top union official said Thursday.
School resource officer Scot Peterson, who resigned in disgrace from the Broward County Sheriffs Office, was distraught about shooting that killed 17 people but believed he did his duty, according to the president of the Broward Sheriffs Office Deputies Association.
He believed he did a good job calling in the location, setting up the perimeter and calling in the description (of Cruz), said the union official, Jim Bell.

There you have it.
This is why we have the 2nd amendment because, when push comes to shove, the police arent there to protect you. Theyre doing a good job if they make a phone call.
If the JROTC in that school had actual rifles on school property (like the JROTC of old did) this wouldnt have happened.
Some of the kids need to be armed (and paid with the Deputy’s salary/overtime/event pay.
If he set up a perimeter, how did the shooter get away? Not much of a perimeter.
Scott Peterson? Really?
When seconds count, a cop willing to do his job is only tens-of-minutes away......
I guess he did as good a job as the rest of the authorities who watched this on a 20 minute tape delay. Talk about the Keystone cops.
This Peterson fellow needs to just stop talking, period.
Clearly the cop was a liberal who votes for demo_rats. Liberals are horrible people.

Haha, 1 man perimeter? You cant make this sh1t up...
Did he at least have two radios?
He really does. If he hasnt got a lawyer already he needs to get one fast . And the first thing a lawyer would tell him to do is to shut his pie hole.
Wait! Are you saying he was a policeman? A real one?
I thought he was just a security guard!
Radio check, me to me...
Setting up a perimeter means you radio to dispatch where OTHER responding units should set up, not that the primary officer has to be in all places at once.
I don't know what happened here, but what I said above is how it works. Whether he set up a perimeter or not is yet to be learned.

He was a Broward County deputy sheriff, from what I read.
