I have been there many times and taken the ferry over to Cozumel plenty and never had an issue. For the most part it is safe. Just don't wander off into the jungles.
I was on that Ferry back in 2006 I think.
Nice and very comfortable.
I’ve been to Cozumel, and would not describe it as “clean”.
Update: locals reporting that only staff was on board. Diesel engine may have caused explosion. Injuries only.
Rot Ruh ! Me thinks it does not look like it was near a kitchen..
It’s very pretty down along that coast. We saw the Voladores (those guys that fly from a pole, tied by their heels). There’s a little Posada de Amor in Puerto Morelos north of there, quite lovely. We stayed there, thought we were leaving Saturday but it was actually Sunday. We just totally lost track of time.
"How to speak San Franciscan.....Va-joy-na!"
In 2004 my sister and I left the Port of Baltimore, MD on the Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas. Stopped at Key West, Belize and Cozumel. Rode horses in Cozumel. Bought a hand carved wooden bowl in Belize. Don’t remember taking a ferry, but perhaps we did.
Great adventure. Too old to do it again, but there are the memories.
Wow.
I eat at the restaurant at the end of that pier.
Well, not really. I have beers there.....
QAnon said, “Watch the water”.
What he said.
I stay with friends at Puerto Aventuras and walk the streets of Playa Del Carmen.
Usually the back streets, so I can get away from the tourists.
There is a family that makes some great food about 4 blocks from the main street.
Bilge pump.
Senor Frogs, been there for much cerveza.
Fuel leak on a hot manifold.
Too much Ether used to start a worn diesel engine? Crankcase explosion?
