NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven woman, determined to keep her own gun from getting into the wrong hands, sawed her weapon in two.
Former School Teacher Amanda Meyer told News 8 via Skype that she was moved to take action in the wake of the Florida school massacre.
“I had decided to do it before the Parkland shooting happened but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. And it was after that and reading the negativity on social media and realizing that I didn’t want to be part of that club anymore that finally drove me to do it,” she said.
Meyer says she plans to turn in her destroyed handgun to police on Tuesday.
Just for conversation, a retired woman school teacher took (let's suppose) her .38 special J-frame out to her garage and clamped it down securely on the power bandsaw and sliced it clean through, right thru the frame and cylinder.
Someone says no, she doesn't have a bandsaw nor does she know how to use one?
Okay, she clamps said J-frame down in the vise and gets out a hacksaw and saws it in half, right thru the frame and the cylinder.
Assuming that maybe this woman does have access to a vise, who else present would undertake to cut thru the frame of a handgun with a cheap little hacksaw? Using how many blades?
Not saying she didn't do one of those two things, or something in between. Maybe her late husband was indeed a machinist or something, and showed her a few things... I'd like to ax her a few questions about it, though.

ALL youths should be given a familiarization course in handguns, rifles, shotguns and other projectile firing weapons. The training course should be started at high school age or even sooner, with advanced training in the feeding, grooming, feeding and proper precautions to be followed when handling these sidearms. This would have a two-fold effect in that those who are too careless in the use and treatment of sidearms will be quickly identified, and those who have a morbid interest in harming or killing their compatriots and peers, will also be much more quickly revealed. These two groups should NEVER be given access to possession or use of sidearms, for obvious reasons. Even if only slowly, the culture of mutual respect one for another here in America would be instilled into this and coming generations.
The problem with mass shootings is not with the weapons used, but with widely held beliefs and misrepresentations prevalent in today’s society. There is no such thing as a “gun-free zone” and to designate a locality as such is a red-carpet invitation for someone who already had malicious intent in mind.
Murder is already illegal, in just about any jurisdiction I can think of.

I am with you. Photos or GTFO. “Sawing” through any handgun short of a polymer with all the metal parts removed is not something I would even consider. I own a milling machine and wouldn’t even try milling through an assembled firearm.

Rather than have it fall into the wrong hands and be used to run over a crowd of pedestrians.
She has also decided that the woman next door has too many children and that she will get her tubes tied to prevent the woman from having any more children.
Additionally, being aware of the obesity epidemic has forced her to saw all of her silverware in half to prevent people from overeating if the utensils ever fell into the wrong hands.
If she really did use an electrical hand tool to cut up a steel firearm she is incredibly lucky to have not seriously injured herself. If she attempted to use a handsaw then she is not finished yet...
Actually, I'm kinda hoping she did, and that they authorities pick up on it.
