The Parkland school shooting has made media stars out of at least two of the survivors, students Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg. Both are advocates of additional gun control laws, and have been extremely critical of President Trump. That is surely their right, as it is also their right to take this moment of national attention to promote their views.
But is interesting to note how the pair have become so media-savvy, and are emphasizing media exposure over other priorities. On CNN this morning, asked whether they would be there when Parkland re-opened, Gonzalez said:
As soon as we can, we are going to go back into the school. As soon as they say school is on Monday, Im going to be thereIm pretty sure. Unless I have interviews unless we have interviews.

Now how do you know what students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School know?
THAT’S an EMMA??? OMG!! GIRL or BOY?? No WONDER these kids are so ANGRY....UGLINESS can do that to you when you do it to YOURSELF!!
LOL!! No kidding!
HAHAHA!
Maybe but considering that Republicans on the Sunday shows including Rush on FNS felt like they had to praise those arrogant brats it might just be her honest opinion.
As soon as they started the threats and demands that was it for me.
They called it ‘Demanding our rights’
By the Federal government?
They are demanding gun control although their cluelessness keeps them from proposing specifics except maybe a ban of that specific gun.
I would like them to be asked if they know anything about the constitution, the different branches of government or how a law is passed. Probably nothing.
Agree!
LOL!
They said the debate (over the Second Amendment) is over.
and
“You are either with us or against us”
Years ago, a couple of Democrat in-laws of mine purchased a "Future Democrat" shirt for WBill Jr. Given my conservative leanings, they thought it would be hilarious.
I took the bait and responded the way that they thought I would. Told them to get rid of the shirt.
What shocked them, though was my response. They said, "I bet YOU'D let him keep it, if it said "Future Republican!!!".
Of course I wouldn't. Kids and politics don't mix, ever, and I think people who force them together are reprehensible. Kids should be kids, they have plenty of time for adult concerns, later.
The in-laws couldn't wrap their heads around that, and in fact called me a liar. Whatever, they're not worth wasting my time on. But I thought their lack of understanding what "integrity" looks like, was telling.
The "kids" in this story, though, are almost adults. 18. That fun age where you know ALL of the answers, and arent't afraid to share. Too bad that the MSM is willing to give them a forum, and no one in their lives loves them enough to say "No". Or at least, "Ya know, that media flunky might not have your best interests in mind.....".
I seriously wonder who is behind this sudden, allegedly-grassroots movement. Spooky Dude? Chuck Schoooooooooomer? The DNC or Hollyweird?
Seminars will be done in Washington DC quarterly offering different viewpoints and making recommendations. A year from the date of the shooting the Aaron Feis group will give their report to the nation.
Student's voices matter... they need facts and a rational approach to problem solving that goes beyond 'marching with slogans'...
Why?
Marching and carrying signs was necessary in the Jim Crow South because blacks were forcefully kept OUT OF THE SYSTEM. That's NOT happening here. A rational grownup approach to a problem is to sit at 'the table', gather facts, and make recommendations. It's NOT to scream at cameras or have paid troll groups hand out 'democrat war room' created protest signs. It's time to help students learn to deal with their problems in an adult fashion ... in the classic fashion of Western Civilization ... from a place of strength ...

Stoneman Douglas Students Launch Craft into Space and Back
The speech she delivered two days after the event contained every Democratic talking point and included 'facts and figures'.
Did she research and write this speech herself?
How did a young woman dealing with this tragedy have the composure to research and write this speech?
Was it written for her?
Was is it pre-written for the event?
My suggestion is to get rid of all federal gun control laws, including gun-free school zones, NICS, Form 4473, etc. Then, each state should be free to determine a background check system to weed out the crazies and felons from getting regulated firearms, at least for a period of time. At the same time, each school board should be allowed to determine a policy on guns in schools, since it used to be that teenagers could bring their hunting rifles to school and store them in their lockers for hunting after school. Such policy could include allowing teachers to be armed and allowing kids to bring their hunting rifles on campus once gain.
NICS should be nuked, since the Federal government has repeatedly proven in the area of preventing these events that it cannot find its own behind with both hands and a flashlight.
I dunno. Part of me thinks some of these activist kids gave each other high-fives after it was over.
What an absolutely horrible thing to say. Wow. A new low for FR.
In principle I agree with you, but we both live in the same liberal outhouse. Do you really think we’d have any smidgen of rights if we gave all authority over to the clowns show at Disneyland on the Chesapeake? (Thank God they only meet 3 months of the year.)
Right now, I believe it’s still in force that sworn law enforcement officers are not allowed to be armed inside Baltimore schools.
That’s the level of mindless insanity these people live in.
Well they sure couldn’t wait to get their faces on TV.
If it were me, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near a camera.
No.
