Fla. school shooting survivor David Hogg says: Speak out
CBS News ^ | February 18, 2018 | CBS News

I was in my environmental science class when the first gunshot echoed through the hallways. We never had an active shooter drill at my school, and though we did talk about what to do in this type of situation, nothing could have prepared us for this.

Politicians and, more importantly, the American public must take action if we're going to prevent the next shooting.

Typical 17 year old uneducated response. He has been brainwashed just enough to not even know what he is saying.

He mentions the other shootings from years ago, and says little if no legislation was passed. Okay, young man, what legislation do you want. If the existing laws were adhered to, the shooting still would have happened. It may not have been Cruz, so it would have been someone else. It may not have been at your school, another one. The shooter was psychotic. He got a gun, which you can buy on the street easily, and used it against unarmed people because they refuse to have protection on campus.

You want to complain about someone, if the school administration can see a pattern in different parts of the country that can happen anywhere, they why didn’t they prepare. Where were the armed guards, the medal detectors, the classroom training, the “profiling of a person they KNEW was a problem and had even posted in Facebook he was going to do it. Everybody knew! Why didn’t someone do anything about it at the place that really had to deal with him? Why did they ignore it? If you knew, why didn’t you do something about it because you probably heard it from friends that did know? It’s easy to point the finger, isn’t it.

“If those teachers and students did not have their 2nd amendment right to self defense infringed this incident would have been nipped in the bud PDQ.”

I wonder if the addle brained old man Bush is real proud of the gun free school zones law he signed in 1990? The old fool probably doesn’t even know what a school is anymore.

Was this one of the kids on Fox News Sunday? I saw them announce their announcement and turned it off.

No thanks, I don’t want to be lectured to by a bunch of juvenile brainwashed dopes.

Were no longer educating students. We’re training self-radicalized terrorists and I’m not talking about the shooter here.

Okay.

Bring back mental institutions.

Fire drills make sense...you get out before the fire reaches you.

If the “shooter” is active, you can’t out run the bullets. Only lock yourself in, and lock him out.

It’s like the “duck and cover” routines we went through in the 60’s in case of nuclear attacks; have you seen films of those “nuclear attacks”? The building, and everything around it, evaporates. A lot of good “duck and cover” would have done if the blast was in 50 miles of you.

Nobody knows the troubled students better than all the other students; they know the bully ones, the weird ones, and the loners. A highly reactive student body could alert the authorities before the teachers, or anyone else. “He’s her on campus”, “run”.

This is not a CGI Hollywood movie, it’s the reality of mental illness. Guns are not alive, they don’t acquire some Disney magic teapot of animation ability and go hunting all by themselves, no more than a shovel digs its own holes.

Don’t tolerate the weirdoes. If they are that bad off, put them somewhere to insure theirs, and everyone else’s safety, and keep them there.

The libs would rather be bleeding heart saviors for weirdoes and disarm the rest of us.

The old fool probably doesn’t even know what a school is anymore.

Nothing but hot dog and pizza factories to him, and apparently he enjoys extra ketchup.

The Sheriff has announced that there was an armed officer on the campus at the time who never encountered the shooter.

Hmmmm.

Even if the campus is 45 acres, the shooter fired 150 rounds, shot 3 people in the parking lot before entering the school.

What did the officer do?

“...the American public must take action if we’re going to prevent the next shooting....”

Yup. Indeed, America must...

Arm up a few teachers, and have retired LEOs guarding the entrances.

And make sure when the school system expels a kid for violent, psychotic behavior, he gets put into the “NO BUY” pipeline in the NICS system.

Problem solved.

One armed officer at a school with 3500 students from the looks of it that campus is HUGE has to be in order to hold that amount of students. You need an armed guard at every single entrance to the school

You mean, “take action” . . . like the FBI?

So, he’s failed all the hard classes then and has to resort to the classes of least intellect?

The reality is that man is sinful, that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Left wants to disarm America more than anything they desire. Why? Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Cuba, And on and on. If the last two years has not woken up American Christians and conservatives how much the Left wants us dead dead DEAD, well I just don’t know what to say.

Young Mr. Hogg, how about having two uniformed, armed police officers patrol the halls of every school, and one plain clothes guy?

Instead of having cops driving around looking for people who aren’t wearing seat belts, that is.

And when a punk posts on social media that they want to be the “next professional school shooter,” do something about it. In my state (Maine) making a terrorist threat is a crime.

And who is going to pay for that? The school district I live in had to put a new school building levy on the ballot about 6 times before it passed. And out school was built in 1938, and needed replaced badly.

Reality is legal won’t openly allow that... In bigger companies, at least.

All I wanted was an annual video and discussion on where staff could go.

At least the previous company installed deadbolts on bathrooms.
