A Carnival cruise devolved into near-anarchy during its 10 days in the South Pacific, with some passengers locking themselves inside their cabins, others kicked off the ship and security guards brawling with vacationers in a bare-knuckles melee.
Carnival said it would investigate what happened after a video surfaced, showing the guards punching, kicking and threatening passengers during the worst of the fighting Friday. But the cruise line is already blaming a large family group for instigating the violence, which some passengers said escalated for days before security could contain it.

When Getting to Know You involves self-defense, I prefer to stay in My Own Little Corner.
I'm betting they were Aussies, however, given the geographic location and head count.
Even with the limit, that’s a lot of drinks. I can’t fathom why people would give Carnival over $50 a day for drinks.

Not that I really needed another reason not to go on a cruise but thanks for giving me an additional one anyway.

I was thinking that they looked Turkish..
It mentioned something to do with the fight being over a thong... I was searching for pics...... nothing.. Finally, near the end, it said something about a thong being stepped on, or something of that nature ;^)
damn wrong thong :p
Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought Turkish..
They should have been waiting for her.. and tossed her overboard.
(My ex cheated.. I have a right to have an inflamed opinion ;^D)
You forgot to mention the Obunghole phones..
I was aboard an aircraft carrier for two years, with 5000 people (including squadron personnel). We never had outbreaks of any kind of illnesses. This was in 1960-62.
Why is it so difficult for cruise ships in the 21st century to keep their crews and passengers from getting sick?
Also, instead of just seeking money for the fares, they should be profiling the groups to eliminate terrorists.
We usually cruise on Princess (surprisingly, owned by Carnival!), and really like it. We tried Celebrity last year and will never do that again. Disney looks interesting, but it seems that it would have too many kids. Also, we’d rather not give money to Disney. (Are there a lot of “alternate lifestyle” passengers?)
Our neighbors who are in their 80s only go with Disney.
Sounds like there were a couple of men the cruise line needed to wash right out of their hair.
Pretty sure I can guess what COLOR this “large family group” is!! No pics proves it!
Is THAT the FAMILY?? I apologize about my COLOR remark!
The large family who was removed from the ship and responsible for starting and continuing the brawling, attacking some passengers unprovoked are said to be Italian. See article and pictures here:
I already apologized!
A word comes to mind: Bogan.
In the brig on a cruise ship? That’s a story I’d pay money to read . . .
