What prevents the president from ordering / offering armed protection for all schools?

He should declare a national emergency.

That would not be a Federal prerogative. That is a State issue.

Those problems are local. They could have stopped him at the local level and didn't bother. His mother wanted to spoil him.

Fla. shooting suspect had a history of explosive anger, depression, killing animals

Cruz started throwing eggs at Speno’s car with no warning, Speno recalled. He and a friend chased Cruz back to his house. "We were pissed off, so we knocked on the door and his mom came out," Speno said. When the two told her what happened, Cruz’s mom had a strange reaction. "She said, ‘No, my son would never do that. He’s inside sleeping,’ " Speno recalled.

Deputies called to suspected shooter’s home 39 times over seven years

Students said that they saw it coming, yet they and their parents may have failed to report it to police. Very relevant threats were reported to the feds, but they didn't follow through.

The liberals are salivating to have America like the old East Germany and Berlin where the police even kept individual scent records of all the citizens so dogs could track them.

Everything was recorded and monitored.
Informants were well paid, including children.

Every years, tens of thousands of young people die from drug overdoses, and tens of thousands of young people are killed in vehicle accidents. Yet the big news is exclusively about a few dozen young people killed by drug addicted criminals and maniacs because of incompetence.

Why are people who are using illegal drugs or psychoactive drugs being allowed to have firearms while under the influence? Because police aren’t arresting enough illegal drug offenders, and people on psychoactive prescriptions aren’t barred from possessing weapons while on those prescriptions.

They don’t need to be barred from possessing firearms for the rest of their lives. But it would be helpful, if they were barred for the duration of their drug abuse or prescriptions (e.g., urine tests for known marijuana users).

Ouderkirk you’re closer to understanding what I wrote than many.

Anybody agree that this president is likely to do something nobody else would do?

We saw congress, NRA and ATF get steamrolled about bump stocks.

Y’all are replying according to logic and the actual Constitution.

But that’s not what’s in play nationally. Bullshit politics and distortions rule.

Established:
- the only immediate solution is to protect the schools with firearms
- fed gov is already bossing schools
- Trump does unconventional things and wants to actually solve problems
- Trump knows how to use leftist arguments (”emergency”) against them

> The liberals are salivating

to ban guns, mags and ammo.

Do you own an AR? If not, I’m not sure you understand what’s going on.

How many AR shootings will it take for the bullshit totalitarian line of the leftists to get critical mass?

We’re really sure that they won’t achieve that?

99.9% of the Molon Labe guys are full of shit.

The tables have to be turned on them. Trump knows how to do that.

I understand exactly what you are postulating.

Not sure that I agree with you on th EO thing.

I would say repealing both the gun free school acts should be the preferred course of action. Then allow the states and localities to decide how best to protect their charges.

Both of these acts should be tied around the necks of democRATS like a tire filled with kerosene and then set ablaze. This is entirely the fault of the liberals and the democRATS in particular

You realize that the states are more than capable of keeping stuff “safe.”

Why would you ever want a large domestic federal police force?

Sounds good to me. You just write the check to cover it first. Sounds like you have cash to burn.

Let’s say the delusional outcry gets critical mass (delusional=the same a$$holes bawling about guns don’t demand the one thing that would help immediately=protect the schools).

Let’s say nobody is going to take a PROPER initiative on this (improper=MSM=take the ARs=the only thing most people will hear)

This president actually wants to improve the situation. Not a movement conservative. No time to repeal anything. Again, this president actually cares and doesn’t want any more school shootings=there’s not enough time to work this the way a conservative would do).

What initiative can he take, while letting all the air out of the leftists? Their stock in trade is panic and heavy government action.

The government IN FACT having disarmed schools OWES the students PROTECTION. This is not where we SHOULD BE but where we ARE.

Trump will take initiative here, and it won’t be small government.

To a fair degree, you are correct.

The democRATS created the environment that enables this and there is no legislative fix that the democRATS are going to allow short of total confiscation of EVERY firearm.

I am not convinced that Trump doing by EO, is a prudent course of action by the precedent it sets for future actions by others not disposed to liberty. That is what you need to consider and what many others here are also concerned about.

THere is no doubt that the president wants to improve the situation and prevent future incidents. The question is how to do it without surrendering or enabling future tyranny.

It’s good of you to discuss this. Thank you.

> prudent course of action by the precedent it sets for future actions by others not disposed to liberty.

This may have made sense when Democrats were just a different American party.

But that’s not what they are any more.

They are going nuclear no matter what we do.

So, we do it first.

Things are going into unknown territory either way.

I say that “we” must take the initiatives, whether ready or not.

We will end up with something quite different. Either a rewritten constitution based on the same principled but better immunized against leftist attacks it has received for so long, or (if we don’t take the fight to them) a new and worse form of tyranny.

In other words, it’s war whether that was what we wanted or not.

Safety or freedom.................................

How many times have we sold our freedom for perceived safety.

What are you talking about?

I’m talking about the same fed gov that made the schools unsafe taking responsibility and sending armed protection in.

There are plenty of idiots in this country to actually legislate taking our ARs.

Our side has to take an effective initiative.

Do you have an AR? Would you want it made illegal? If you don’t have one, why not?

Do you know anyone who has a kid in a govt school? Do you think they are safe? Do you give a shit?

EXACTLY. The left designed these murder holes to push their anti-gun agenda. They need to be outed at every turn.

I am not sure how to deal with the democRATS/ communists.

They are like children and cannot be trusted to tell the truth or act with honor. They lie, cheat, and deal from the bottom of the deck. The only thing that they care about is sex and getting their rocks off.

I consider them to be domestic enemies and should be treated as such. They view us as conservatives as evil.... we need to treat them similarly.

The schools receive federal money for each student in a seat for each day...accept the federal coin, then you have to accept the federal protection..../s!(But I could see Democrats doing something like that)
