We keep hearing, “we need to have a national conversation about guns,” and then we keep hearing statements from those same voices that are simply not true.
If we’re going to have that national conversation, I want the other side to do its homework first.
I don’t want to hear CNN lamenting that Florida doesn’t require a concealed carry permit for an AR-15 or shotgun. (They are too large to conceal.) I don’t want to hear people referring to the AR-15 as an “automatic assault weapon” and I want them to learn the difference between automatic and semiautomatic, and which kind is already illegal. I don’t want to hear about “the gun show loophole” unless the shooter purchased his gun at a gun show... I want former presidents to stop asserting that it’s easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than buy a computer...
If someone wants to ban AR-15s, I want them to say so.
I also want to know what they want to do about the 5 million to 10 million AR-15s already in private hands. I want them to realize that if they don’t grandfather in the already-owned ones, they will instantly turn millions of law-abiding Americans, who have never fired a shot in anger, into criminals. If a gun control advocate proposes a buyback program like Australia’s, I want that person to recognize that the compliance rate ... was about 20 percent and it created a violent black market....
If a gun control advocate calls for law enforcement to confiscate AR-15s from private homes, I want that person to realize that they’re calling for...chaos.
And I want them to know that as long as groups advocate ideas like this, the line “no one wants to take away your guns” is a ... lie.

The left wants you to be defenseless against their antifa mobs.
It’s probably too late for this. We’re so polarized now that people don’t look at the whole of anything. When the other side speaks, they are already formulating their rebuttal rather than listening. Everyone is just waiting for the next set of memes and talking points from their leaders.
Sadly, this can be said about both sides of most political arguments these days.

You cannot uninvent something.
Anyone with access to a machine shop and some skills can build a gun.
There is a thriving home built firearm community. Many of my friends have built their own as have members of my family. 100% legal. Zero incidents.
Anyone can load their own ammunition
$15 and a trip to Home Depot, the dollar store and the grocery store can make a pretty lethal potatoe gun. It uses hair spray as the propellant. Stuff a potatoe down the barrel and drop a handful of nails and you’ve just made a very effective single shot shotgun.
These little tidbits simply destroy any hopes of controlling guns.

The article notes 1972 as the year Jamaicans were forcibly debarred the use of guns.
At that point, the murder rate was 8 per 100,000 residents. In 2015, it was 64 per 100,000 residents.
Yea libs, let’s have that national conversation. Just be prepared to get burned by facts rather than emotion.
Rule One: Spend twice as much on the scope as you do the firearm.
We need a national conversation about the evils of liberalism.
How about a discussion on how every time this happens ,the FBI says ,”oh we knew about him months ago” What the hell is that? If you knew about him and you know that this is a on going problem, take some preemptive steps. FCS do something! Taking our guns will never do anything but make widows and orphans all across this nation and bring an end to this Great Republic.
When a Mooslim commits an act of terror we must not blame and pushish all Mooslims, but when a crazy commits and act of terror with a firearm it is perfectly acceptable to blame and punish all gun owners.

The only conversation about guns that I want is with fellow and fellowette shooting enthusiasts....glock, m1911, ar15 etc forums.
33,000 deaths by guns a year with most are suicides leaving 8500 with a few hundred done by rifles. Heard this on Glenn Beck on the way to work this morning. Japan has almost no guns yet number of suicides is greater. Chicago and other democrat run cities have thousands murdered every year, most are gang members. Gangs who are paying off democrat politicians.
