There are increasing doubts about claims that the suspect in Wednesday’s mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida was tied to a white supremacist group, the Republic of Florida (ROF).
The Tallahassee Democrat quoted local law enforcement officials as saying they had no evidence linking Cruz to the ROF:
Local law enforcement sources have not found a connection between accused Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz and a Tallahassee-based paramilitary group.
Leon County law enforcement sources told the Tallahassee Democrat that they could not find information linking Cruz, 19, to the Republic of Florida Militia, as claimed by the group’s self-proclaimed leader Jordan Jereb.
His comments to the Anti-Defamation League and The Associated Press set off a media firestorm Thursday at about midday that Cruz was connected to the alt-right, white nationalist group.
Even left-wing reporters and pundits — hardly shy to link mass shooters with the far-right — began to doubt the story.

Yeah, they trot this out every time there is a shooting. Leftwing technique is just to fling accusations and hope that some will stick. Most people will hear them and believe them. Any retractions are too little too late (and buried on the back inside pages or mumbled one time in the least watched newscast of the day).
There is a photo out there of the shooter wearing a tee shirt with Marx, Lenin, Mao and Castro on it. The MSM can’t bury that one deep enough..
I saw that, too, and mentioned it, but couldn’t find it again. I was told the picture doesn’t look like Cruz.
Does not matter they got the headline out there which was the point. Classic disinformation.
Cannot understand the narrative behind pushing this, whether true or not. Of his victims most were white, none were black.

1-2 hours before the shooting, all the news was focusing on Buzzfeed suing the Democratic Party over the Steele dossier which would come back to the FBI.
VERY convenient that just before the 6 o’clock news came on, there is a mass shooting by a guy known to the FBI. I mean the timing here is ridiculous.
A friend’s school in same area had a facebook(?) post suggesting violence at their school system soon.
Why are our school buildings not hardened encampments?!

That photo has been posted here several times, and it is also a fraud. The person in the photo is clearly not the shooter. The two look almost nothing alike.
In fact, yesterday evening, someone posted side by side photos: the mug-shot of the shooter next to the alleged incriminating photo. I don’t think $5,000,000 worth of plastic surgery could make those two people look alike.

That is the problem with a disinformation campaign with a huge media willing to push disinformation broadly and then retract it on page 27, middle of page, 1 column inch.
No need for Freepers to get defensive even if there was a link. There are are undeniably powerless, angry white fringe groups out there that the left will use to smear its opponents. Best remedy is to focus on vision and truth.
That would probably be okay, were we to be living in a police state. When my children were in school, I would not want them in a place that resembled a bunker. My preferred solution to this, in the short term, is to randomly arm teachers and administrators. In the long term, restore mental institutions and bring God back to school and society. Satan is expert at filling a void.
