CNN Already Demanding A 'Discussion' About Gun Control After Florida School Shooting

As the story about the horrific mass shooting in Parkland, Florida was still developing today, CNN didn't even wait for all the facts to come in before beginning its push for a “discussion about guns."

At 3:17 PM EST, CNN National Security Analyst Juliette Kayyem made her gun control pitch by misinforming the network's viewers, claiming that America is "the only nation that has this kind of violence." According to NewsBusters, which transcribed the relevant segment, Kayyem said:

Yet again, you cannot have these conversations with at least saying every time we are the only nation that has this kind of violence and presumably gun violence, obviously, in particular focused on our children. It is just ridiculous. My daughter is coming home from an urban high school in the next 20 minutes. It's — it’s like no other country lives or allows themselves to live and here we are, another time, having a discussion about guns as being a security issue for our children.

Instead of correcting Kayyem's egregious factual error, CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin agreed with Kayyem:

The Anti Gun crowd need to know this fact..in ALL Israeli schools, there are armed guards..there has NOT been any school shooting in Israel due to this..and in Israel it is very common for people to walk around with their guns. When I was in Israel for my sister’s wedding in 2012, you should have seen, people walking around, with their rifles over their shoulder..no one said a word it is a very common thing..because in Israel, it is required that you serve in the military so everyone has gun training

The spiritual battle, which would have students even in the grip of ennui never countenancing this, petered out long ago.

Second best thing: physically guard the schools.

Best thing: care about God in the homes.

I think if there were a few armed guards in every school you wouldn’t see these whackos showing up..they ONLY show up at gun free zones

Spare me. Show me the actual evidence where your religious mania would cure all the ills you claim it would.

I think these events are entirely and inarguably the fault of media pundits who broadcast the panic coverage, over and over and over, glorifying the events, and equally importantly, blaming anyone and anything who is clearly uninvolved in pulling the triggers.

As long the MSM continues to blame those not at fault, the potential perpetrators understand that they will not be blamed and within their twisted logic, will be able to inflict their revenge actions without consequence.

Again and again, children are taught that white males are privileged for their status in society and guilted therefor. They are blamed for every societal ill, yet given no means of countering the argument. They are told it is they who have produced the horrible injustices that so many feel hold them back from achieving their life aspirations and made to feel like societal villains who have no ability to atone for something they do not understand has been artificially dumped on them.

The media and the socialist left as manifested in the structure and practices of modern liberal education have giant influences on the occurrences of this phenomenon. And they too, inevitably escape any sort of culpability for their stance. If you are a young white male, you have media telling you your race has caused all the societal ills, you have stolen and enslaved all peoples of the world, you have committed wars for your racist aims, you hate all other peoples and are bigoted towards them. You are a piece of crap who deserves to be shot and ground up into garden fertilizer. And it isn’t the media’s fault, and it isn’t the fault of the people who teach you that you are a piece of crap. Nothing is anybody’s fault except for you and your white skin and what your ancestors did to everybody elses ancestors and how you continue to oppress those people today. You are supposed to kill yourself and rid the world of the scourge you are. You have an incurable disease: Being white.

And they wonder why some react in these ways.

we agree, I hope hope hope USA can get back to a sensible, honest government (if we ever had it in any recent times?)

but much much better at any event.

I am haunted by my Father’s always telling us:

“Toute nation a le gouvernement qu’elle mérite.”
which means,
“Every nation gets the government it deserves.”

I must say the counties and the local school districts are doing one damn fine job.

How many more of these incidents do you think it will take before they actually do enforce gun control?

When I was growing up there was plenty of teen-age angst, anger and insubordination. There were also plenty of guns and ammo available to teen-agers. Everyone had guns. I got my first rifle when I was 11 and could soon shoot as well as many adults. But there were no school massacres in those days.

The thing that's changed is people. What was unimaginable in my teen years is now almost routine. I can't put my finger on the root cause exactly. But I think the shared values Americans held prior to the 1960s social upheaval were what held things together. Now there seems to be a race to see who can violate those "old-fashioned" values in the most extreme way. Everyone wants their 15 minutes, no matter how much innocent blood must be shed to achieve them.

The flip side is that governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. A government that loses it’s claim to just power, due to a long train of abuses and usurpations, is likely to encounter difficulties.

I can’t speak for what it is like in your area.
All of the schools in my county have had
a police officer assigned on duty there for many years.

Thanks to CNN false news propagandists, and Chief Spy Barrack Hussein Obama, Americans now fear a Stasi Style police state more than ever.

IMO, the MSM is responsible for your top two.

The MSM is largely Comcast and Disney.

So is Faux.

While on there, Ben Nelson signaled that he is willing to ban AR-15s; Thinks that the 2nd Amendment is just about hunting.

And a few moments later , Bernard Kerik tells us that the 2nd Amendment is a PRIVILEGE. (but the first Amendment is a RIGHT).

Here are some facts I don’t see tied together.

The alleged shooter walked into the school where he was supposedly banned. He moved up to the third floor. He pulled the fire alarm. He carried a rifle (auto or not they are not something you fit into a backpack) and proceeded to open fire as kids exited into the hallway for fire drill.

* Why was there no surveillance and, if so, why did nobody notice?
* Why was there no security?
* Why was there no metal detector?

Rather than starting a debate on gun control, maybe we should have a debate on why Parkland schools felt no need to take even the very minimum of security when they knew a student with a violent temper had been making threats. One would think the death toll might be zero or significantly less if the schools ahd equipped the children with even the barest minimum of security between themselves and a crazed shooter.
