Authorities are investigating a reported shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Wednesday.
Officers responded to the school at 5901 Pine Island Road for the reported shooting, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.
There were reports of victims, BSO officials said.
Coral Springs Police tweeted that that people should stay away from the school due to an active police scene.
No other information was known.
Thy reported early there were two Resource Officers, cops, on duty at all times. We’re they killed? What’s with them?
Has it been confirmed that the shooter was adopted and both adoptive parents are deceased?
But, in terms of ‘are Spaniards Hispanic’? (Not referencing physical characteristics). Spaniards do not consider themselves Hispanic. They are European, just as Italians and the French are.
Americans call Spaniards hispanic. My mother is 100% Castillian and has never marked ‘yes’ to being Hispanic on any form. This has been a life long discussion. My son asked me this question as he was filling out an application. I said you are Caucasian, not Hispanic. Not a pride thing. It’s geography v My nephew decided to mark the Hispanic box to help him get into a college because his grades were an issue. I don’t believe in doing that. It should always be merit based.

The problem with all these profiles is that thousands of people are all of the above, but only a handful go off the rails like this guy. There’s more to it than the easy pickings of the profiles. I know — I sort of fit most of the same profiles myself (although I am now almost 70) and I dealt with all of the above, and didn’t go nuts and kill people. Most people don’t. A few do. So what triggers them to do that?
It’s the tough question since if we just profile to prevent, we’ll have thousands upon thousands of people sent away, 99.9% for no particular reason other than that somebody somewhere took a dislike to them. And as a libertarian individualist as I think most here would also be, this is just plain wrong, it’s what we despise about liberals, that they categorize people into groups and cater to a group-oriented politics that divides people into victims and oppressors.
The answer is not in profiling, but in prevention. It makes no sense to me that grandmothers are frisked before getting on airplanes but young men can wander freely into any given high school or college. Where’s the greater risk?

I read he was autistic. There was another shooter who was autistic but I can’t remember who. Autism speaks.

Our teachers and bus drivers are not the sort of people you give a gun to. We need to change the rules for being a teacher first (i.e. a certain percentage need to have teaching as a second career because idealistic 24 year olds don’t know squat about life).
One quick way to teach them about life is a marksmanship and gun safety course, and then a piece of hardware strapped to their waists. If a maniac charges through the door with a gun and starts picking off their students, they’ll do the right thing. Best part of it is, they probably won’t have to, because visibly wearing a sidearm while on duty deters would-be maniacs.

i don’t suppose people from Spain, that has a rich history, want to be identified with third world mobs and chaos.
That makes sense about the Spaniards, who are European! More proof, Holly, that they want to stick everyone under the same “umbrella”, Lol! My kids are half Irish, plus other things mixed in, from their dad’s side. And nice to meet another with Spaniards in the family!
