Twitter users noticed something about Amy Sherald's portrait of Michelle Obama

Twitter users noted on Monday morning that Amy Sherald's portrait of former first lady Michelle Obama resembled someone else, not its muse.

The former first lady's painting was done by Sherald, a Baltimore-based artist who won the Gallery's 2016 Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition.

"As you may have guessed, I don't think there's anybody in my family who's had a portrait done, let alone a portrait that will hang in the National Gallery," Obama told attendees.

"I am a little overwhelmed, to say the least," she added. "I am humbled. I am honored. I'm proud, but most of all, I am so incredibly grateful to all of the people who came before me in this journey — the folks who built the foundation on which I stand."

I went to one of those “ drink wine and paint” parties at a local bar. The paintings we did looked like the painting of Michelle.😂 Maybe ours were better.😂

This seems to be the obvious answer. In EVERY photo seen of this “artist”, he is certainly attempting to state ‘something’ by the posing of his hands. Must have been learned in that ‘charm class’.

I would be angry if I was Michelle. That portraits looks nothing like her and it is embarrassing that likeness will be hanging there forever.

Yet another example of affirmative action in action. That sh*t portrait is what you get when you make the race of the artist more important than the talent of the artist...

Given that we’re talking about the Obamas, this comes as no surprise (see Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Susan Rice, et al).
