Sad. RIP.
I used to have reasonable copays until ACA did the exact opposite of what the Democrats have always claimed to be for and gave the insurance companies carte blanche. Now, my premiums, deductibles, copay, etc. goes steadily upward ever single year. Oh, and it took a few years, but this year, no, I can no longer see my 30-year doctor.
Was she a democrat?
I know! Shouldn’t this guy be ashamed of himself?
Had Ms. Holland gotten a flu shot this year? Last stats I saw for this year had the unvaccinated accounting for 80% of deaths.
Exactly. What it boils down to is she and/or her husband didn’t want to spend the money and apparently thought she didn’t need the medicine enough to warrant paying for it.
interesting that she was a govt employee with a steady ( bloated ) paycheck
why couldnt she come up with $120 ?
must be squandering her money
They come in easy-to-swallow softgels.
I have taken one per day (in organic coconut oil) and only been sick once this winter, and that was just the general cold.
People are not taking sufficient quantities of Vitamin D.
Very sad case, but there isn’t a sick teacher alive who truly could not afford a hundred dollar life-saving treatment for an illness. In this poor girl’s case, she gambled, unwisely, that she could get away with not paying for her treatment (and, btw, not everyone who gets treated survives) and lost.
There is a generic. AND there are on line coupons for Tamiflu.
I have millennial kids, and I was young once as well.
I never would have thought catching the flu would be terminal. And so yeah, I would have rolled the dice back then (35 years ago).
Your relevance may vary
Yes, maybe the husband wanted to get rid of her.
McMoron. Darwin at work.

I feel like I am in the Sixth Sense movie and all I see are idiots.
Flu shots are free. And if she didn’t pick up her medication because of $116 copay where does her money go anyway? So she doesn’t care enough for preventive measures by getting a free flu shot. Then clearly she’s prioritizing other things over her health because most people who work can afford $116 copay, but I’d not put it on a credit card & pay it next month. I’m sure there are plenty of things in her life she’s buying that have could have put in put on the back burner until she got her medicine. people never want to take responsibility for their irresponsible spending habits and it drives me nuts.
Ditto, Vit D deficiency is rampant and my level was quite low.
I take that and a probiotic and avoid sugar, especially in flu season.
While it WILL kick your ass, the flu should not kill an otherwise healthy young adult.
1/2 gallon of water and 8 aspirin a day, staying in bed for a week, should kick any flu at that age group.
There must have been something else contributing.
You don't understand. They had more pressing needs:
Don’t know about Texas but here in my neck of the woods the teachers get paid once a month. Could have been why she waited to pick up prescription meds. Also if it was Tamiflu you need to start the regimen within 48 hours of exhibiting symptoms.
It took her in only ONE day?
