A Swampscott elementary school principal recently came out as transgender, according to letters released to the school community on Feb. 6 and, a day later, to the press.
I can now say it: I am transgender, wrote Shannon Daniels, 52, principal of Swampscotts Stanley Elementary School and who formerly went by the name Tom, in a letter to the community. For me that means I identify as both a male and female, and I plan to move toward presenting myself and identifying as female.
Daniels wrote of struggling with her gender identity since she was in elementary school, suppressing the feelings for more than 40 years .
While I was successful to a degree, I have never felt completely happy or at peace, the principal wrote in her letter to the school community Feb. 6. I got to the point that I thought I would never be able to reveal my true self. Frankly, the prospect of doing so was terrifying.
She goes on to note her public announcement was met with nothing but support from the school that she leads.
The wonderful Stanley School community is incredibly warm and accepting, she writes. I am proud to be the leader of this school, and I sincerely believe that the ability to live my life openly and authentically gives me great serenity and will make me a more sensitive, empathetic and effective leader.
She ended with a request: I humbly ask that you support me as you would any family member going through a profound life change.
As the principals identity transitions physically, she offered a trio of ways for parents to relay the changes to their children:
There are many different ways boys and girls express themselves. It is important that we accept everyone as they are. Principal Daniels may look and sound different, but inside, Principal Daniels is the same, caring person. This doesnt change the fact that Stanley School is a great place to be and learn. Principal Daniels has shared with us the intensely personal decision to identify as transgender, wrote Swampscott Superintendent Pamela Angelakis in a letter to the Swampscott Community. This will mark the beginning of an important community dialogue on the issue.
With that said, Angelakis noted the Swampscott Public Schools will be providing opportunities for education and conversation about this topic in the near future.
She applaued Daniels and stated her admiration for the principals courage, honesty and transparency
Principal Daniels has committed to being honest and transparent throughout this personal journey, said Angelakis. I will certainly do the same from the districts perspective.
This school is kindergarten through grade four. Of all places and time, who can possibly think this is appropriate?
Does they go to the laddies room or the ladies room?
I’m glad I went to the Hadley school instead of the Stanley school. For those not familiar with the place, Swampscott is a beautiful seaside community between Lynn, Mass and Marblehead, Mass. It is primarily upper middle class and its demographics include mostly Jews and Caltholics. When I lived there, the minorities were white protestants. I don’t recall ever seeing a brown or black person.
I spent three years of my youth living directly across from Fisherman’s beach in Swampscott.
“Daniels wrote of struggling with her gender identity since she was in elementary school, suppressing the feelings for more than 40 years”
Oh yes, it’s ALL about “her”
Never mind the position of responsibility to children, it’s “her” that takes precedent
Fn pervert
They say that one cannot be a devout Christian and run a business such as a bakery because to deny making a same-sex “wedding” cake is discrimination, but they celebrate individuals in positions of authority over our children who espouse transgenderism. The country has lost its collective marbles.
That’s hardly something to be proud of.
You jest but it is obvious that this progressive movement is attempting just that. Heaven help us from this evil. I think this movement dies when/if Trump exposes the underground DC pedophile movement
Many politicians have been engaged in this sickness.
What if a principal proudly proclaimed they were heterosexual.
Everyone would look at each other..and say “huh?”
Then the admin would probably fire him for sexism...?
What would seem to be the usual primary or secondary school approach at this point would be to start with the hormones and growing his hair long this spring, make the dramatic “transition” in the summer, and come back to start the new school year as a “she”.
It’s also married or was at one time and has children.
He’s a man with a perverted mind ...who likes to ‘pretend’ he’s a woman by wearing women’s clothes in order to satisfy/accommodate his lust for male sex. Rather than admit he’s a sexual deviant.
Transgender is now the “acceptable” language to define a sexual deviant.
“......the principals courage, honesty and transparency/////
So the “thing” decides NOW to be honest? What about her/his honesty BEFORE being hired?
In a sane world this sexual pervert would be prohibited from being near children.

How lovely! Lucky you! To be able to walk out your door and be at the beach is perfect! Especially at that moment in time.........
Hey,watch your microaggressions there, pal.Let's get our pronouns straight....it's *its*.
Did we ask? Then why tell us this?
