New Jersey on Monday became the latest state to implement its own net neutrality rules following the Federal Communications Commissions repeal of the Obama-era consumer protections.
Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed an executive order prohibiting all internet service providers that do business with the state from blocking, throttling or favoring web content.
We may not agree with everything we see online, but that does not give us a justifiable reason to block the free, uninterrupted, and indiscriminate flow of information, Murphy said in a statement. And, it certainly doesnt give certain companies or individuals a right to pay their way to the front of the line.
While New Jersey cannot unilaterally regulate net neutrality back into law or cement it as a state regulation, we can exercise our power as a consumer to make our preferences known, he added.
Murphy is following the lead of his counterparts in New York and Montana, who are pushing back on the FCC order, which also expressly preempted states from implementing their own net neutrality regulations. The executive orders will likely feature heavily in an upcoming court battle challenging the rollback.
Gurbir Grewal, New Jerseys attorney general, also announced on Monday that the state would be the 22nd to join a lawsuit against the FCC.

If that is what the bill did, then not too bad. The FCC version was 398 pages about why the government should control and tax the internet and 2 pages about nebulous guidelines without penalties.
“While New Jersey cannot unilaterally regulate net neutrality back into law or cement it as a state regulation, we can exercise our power as a consumer to make our preferences known”
Translation: Has the same authority as “Jersey Develis Day.” None
So all this EO does is prevent serivce providers from throttling or blocking content? If so That this is actually something I might be able to agree with.
Of course it also means that People in NJ will be paying more for the internet.

The Internet grew, thrived, and prospered for 25 years without “net neutrality,” yet now it is deemed essential? Essential for what?
The Internet grew very well for 20 years without Obamas and soros net neutrality
Net Neutrality was just one move in a sequence of events to completely take over the internet. A sequence that happened so slowly none of you noticed it happening at all: This lays it all out :

I don’t care how much money you have, if you’re a democrat liberal progressive socialist, please stay in NJ.
If you are a conservative, come on down.

Devil in the details. Let’s hope the details aren’t.
Not that I support NN, but it might stop Zuckerberg, Google, et al. from squashing conservative content.

Good luck enforcing that.

Link to EO #9 at the bottom. I think folks are gonna be disappointed.
I do believe this violates the Interstate Commerce Clause.
Unconstitutional. The internet is a business portal and falls under ICC. Only congress can regulate interstate commerce.
Embrace the suck Joisy because you voted for this POS. It’s only going to get much much worse.
Jerseyans know it; at this point those of us tied to mortgages and property tax bills are simply being outvoted by takers (both the gubmint workers and the gubmint leeches). From nj.com today: “Who wants to buy a home in New Jersey?”
