These people are using my phone to call me and do not compensate me for it. I block their numbers so they spoof a local number. Most of them are selling a borderline fraudulent service. Every FReeper should be such an asshole that they abuse these scum.
When you hope the next person can accept their call, remember that it might be a older person who doesn’t have full mental acuity and they might just buy their third extended warranty on the car they don’t drive anymore.
I say that because it happened to my parents. The warranty company is Palmer Administrative Services in NJ and they are a vile bunch of thieving MFers and they get very abusive when you call to cancel the warranty in the first 30 days (as they claim you can do).

I use that when I get call for polls - My first response is
"How much do I get?"
When they say "nothing" I remind them that THEY are getting paid, their bosses are getting paid, their company is getting paid, but they expect Me to answer and do all the work for NOTHING. Then hang up and block their number.

My mother fell for three or four of these folks a day. Finally my liberal sister agreed it was a problem and hid her credit card. Now my mother still talks to these folks and agrees to contribute but when they ask for a credit card number, she goes looking for her card only to come back to tell the caller that she cannot find her card. (She never remembers that she couldn't find it a few hours before.) It probably wastes 20 minutes of the caller's time.

Our police department has released numerous warnings about all of the scams claiming to be raising money for law enforcement and so on. Why anyone believes it is OK because that thief needs a job, well, that just stinks.
I play with them if I have time. The robo ones, I hang up and put it on my block list. That is limited, though, so will run out of space eventually. And, the spoofing gets around it too.
The Windows ones can be fun. I go through all sorts of stuff and then tell them I have an Apple or something. My husband has learned some choice phrases in various languages and gets some really good reactions. For people who speak poor English, they sure can cuss up a storm.
I once was a telemarketer, a good one, but that was 32 years ago. Appointment setting, true, but still not welcomed by some. We did not scam or steal, though, so there is that.
